About 20 years ago me and my cousin was kids and we had a hideout in the familys big barn, we had some basic tools for repairing our bikes and stuff, one tool i remember the most is one like this:

But the one we had, was a Bahco if i remeber correctly, and i have searched the whole barn but still havent found it, i guess that time has taken it away from me.

I cant seem to get a correct name for it, not even in swedish, no one even remeber using these.
I on the other hand, remebers it as a great tool for kids with bikes and mopeds, its probably my first "favorite" tool i ever had.

So now im out looking to buy one, preferrably a bahco, i might not need it, but for nostalgia - its needed!

Have you had/got one?

Thats a dog bone wrench. Craftsman sells some chinese made ones that I am not fond of that I got for a present and I am going to try to return them. For working on bikes, I would assume they would be a decent catch all tool. I like the concept more than the execution. I always like combo tools in theory but rarely like them in use.

Yeah, that one's ratcheting. The problem is that each head is huge.

I've got a few original dog-bone wrenches, which looked more like a dog bone, because the ends were fixed (picture a sphere on each end of a rod, with four hex holes punched in it around the circumference).

Hej och välkommen!

I have never seen a Bahco dogbone wrench; if you manage to find one, please post some photos here.

ratcheting :)

I have that B&D ratchet Dog bone. (so does my son) neither of us have ever used it... (Gift from the Grandma/MIL, so we are pretty much stuck with them)

I should have probably left mine in it's package for my GG grandchildren; maybe then it would have some value as an antique curiosity...

The title of your post is a hoot. Yes I can name this tool for you.
"Useless" I will be glad to send you a birth certificate for the tool.
If you tell me who the father is, I will put his name on it. LOL

The name of the tool is Dog Bone. Not sure what the propper name is.
I hope you don't have the forum name your pets or children. LOL

"Can you name this tool for me?". "Can you tell me the name of this tool?"
There is always humor in the headings. LOL

The swivel dog bones go WAY back...I have pictures of nearly identical ones in 1915 vintage car part catalogs. They make some sense on really old cars with exposed bolts and on bicycles. Nowadays, you'd be hard pressed to find any bolt the thing could reach on a Honda...

Thats the one I had as a kid. Wouldn't imagine giving a kid one of these days. They were terrible.

Somewhere I have a decently made one of these in real tool steel. It is US made and pretty old, if I can find I will snap a picture and upload it. I also had some of these cheepies too and they were ok if you were using it once or twice to get a nut on most of the way before you used a real tool or a cresent wrench to finish the job off.

if you ever wanna get unstuck with one of them, just throw them over the "pond" to me in sweden ;)

i guess the reason why i relly liked that tool was because it was one of the few first "real" tools me and my cousin ever had, as we were not allowed to use our fathers tools.

hmm now when i read it, it sound like we have the same dad, :lol_hitti but nope. still working on the grammar :rolleyes2

I had the same one as a small child , I found an old VW engine that I thought would be cool to see how it worked and that tool made out of pot metal snapped into two pieces on the first bolt. As a nine year old I thought my Father was going to kill me but he just let it go.

Funny but speaking of the Dogbone I came upon one made many years ago, I guess that idea will never die!
