Strouty, I have a budget I promised to stay at...I'm waiting for the materials to be priced out and go from there... But I agree with you

EdT, I just don't have the time to go the rough sawn route...yes it can be cheaper, but not so much when it comes to labor

So an update as to where I am now, and where I was hoping to be....I was hoping to have the excavation and foundation done by now..BUT. Still waiting for two of the materials suppliers to get back to me with pricing on materials, got the first one yesterday. Still don't have the building permit yet as they require a materials list. I really thought it was going to be easier than this to get started.

Finally got the building permit, and ordered the trusses, doors and windows. I took the flail mower to mow the ground close on the building site and the drive. Then took the rototiller to chew up the grass so the excavator and get as much usable loam as possible. A few pics below. Excavator should be here the next few days.

My wife's uncle bought a portable bandsaw mill and he cut all the wood for his workshop. It worked out really well for him, but it did take a long time for him to cut all the wood required. He planed it too, and of course the wood had to dry first so that took even more time. He got a few custom jobs too so that helped pay for the bandsaw mill.

Its something I wanted to do, but just didn't have the time....hopefully when I get the barn done and my workshop set up, I can play with a band mill and many other projects
