This Tuesday's flyer shows the hydraulic/pneumatic lift on sale for $550. I bought this in 2019 for $475 and I think the all time low was $450 in Feb 2020, so not too bad considering inflation.

Is it just me or is CT not discounting things as much as they used to be?? I've noticed in the last few weeks that things you could get at 40-50% off before are now only 30% or less.

There seems to be a bit of a ebb and flow to Canadian Tire's logic. I've seen this happen in the past and then they go right back to the large discounts. If it's not desperate, just wait, and if it is, check marketplace - there's a lot of people selling for cheap right now.

Welcome to late stage capitalism. Pay more, own less. Once someone figures out a subscription model for screwdrivers we're fucked.
Not me. I already have them all. And so do most of us on this board. (LOL)

(And no, that won’t stop any of us from picking up “an extra, just in case’)

In all seriousness, the deals that used to be aren’t anywhere anymore, but CTC has a regular cycle of higher/lower discounts. And while they never seem to increase regular prices, they discontinue and replace. But my pricing gripes are more about shop chemicals and auto parts…

A good indicator of CTC tool pricing is the two weeks before Father’s Day, and the two weeks before Xmas.

ProPoint welding pliers - 6 piece set

$66.83 I think is a good buy. Check your store - I picked up one very shelf work package that had a store markdown to under $30

I suspect $130 was a bit much of a commitment for people, and the singles made more sense. But I’m pleased to have the assortment. Although it’s making my welding cart even more overloaded…

Has anyone tried these drillbits?
I haven't used those exact ones but if they're like the Mastercraft HSS drills or the Mastercraft router bits I used I'd pass. Crappy tire cutting tools are not good in my experience.

I'd spend a bit more and get these Walter's. I have them and tgey are top notch. Lifetime tools if u take care of them. A little bit more money and you can get the hex shank version too.

Thanks for the recommendation.
I’ve been in the market for a good set of drillbits and that Walter might be just what I need.

Just picked this guy up from PA today. Discontinued so more than half off. I’m going to modify it to bristle blast (make profile like sandblasting but without the mess!).

It’s the exact same tool that both SUNEx and Eastwood sell (taiwan manufacturing - design one make many under different names)

I'm intrigued. I don't understand what it does differently than an angle grinder with a wire wheel though.

Is it more aggressive? Do those angled wires dig into the surface better than a wire wheel that tends to just polish the surface?

It looks like it comes with the bristle wheels. What do you have to modify to bristle blast?

The bristles need to impact the work surface to have a blast effect. I need to add the “accelerator bar”. Here’s a video of the inventor company Montipower. Their unit is $2,000 so wasn’t feasible to go that way! I discovered these in my work with industrial coating companies and it should be great for my rust reversal mission on my truck

Calgary N wouldn't match price. Phone into red deer and have 2 on hold for me. 4 left at this time.
That was fast. I bet there were 16-20 when I was in there yesterday after work. I grabbed two.

...or I supposed someone might have just bought LOTS. 😄

A few Osca hammers on sale in the latest Princess Auto national flyer. I think Osca hammers are excellent, they rarely go on sale (except the 32oz ball pein for some reason) and these are pretty healthy discounts.

Yes - if anyone is still uninitiated, get some Oscas.

My favourites are the machinist hammers. The 1000g machinist hammer is also worth buying (it’s been a long time since it went on sale, but still well bought). Wish they still carried the 500g. So get the 400g ballpein in consolation.

I’m genuinely enthusiastic about them. I’ve got a drawerful. I’d also like to hope that if they sell, we’ll see some others available.

I picked up the 3lb club and machinist hammers on the weekend. They seem fantastic, though I haven't used them in anger yet.

I wanted the 14oz too - but I just don't need another ballpein in that size. I was still tempted though... 😄

The Osca anti-vibration system in the club hammer is more sophisticated than I thought. I assumed it was just a fiberglass handle, but it's actually nylon over a hollow aluminum core. I didn't expect that for $24. I'll have to try it and see how it works compared to my Stanley/Proto anti-vibe hammers. Different concept, hopefully not just marketing. Good construction either way.

I really like the Osca red handles. I’m generally a wood handle fan, preferably with the overstrike collar, and really don’t like fibreglass handles. I’m curious of your conclusions especially vs a similar antivibe, but for feel and balance i might actually prefer the nylon and aluminum handles to wood, at least for crosspeins.

I'm excited this came back!

Cheaper than ever too. Princess Auto sold out a few months ago - so I'm surprised to see them on the website again.

I considered getting one but I mostly work on powersports stuff and figured I wouldn't need it. Then it went out of stock and shortly thereafter I bought a 1976 Ford Courier that needed an engine rebuild.

I don't need this, I don't need this, I don't need this...
The cylinder head organizer? I didn't think I needed it either... but when I did I realized they sell for $80-120 and Princess Auto had sold out, I lamented my imprudence.

But it came back! I feel like $3.61 is cheap insurance against FOMO.

Not just FOMO, but $4 is worth not having to mark and label a sheet of paper, only to knock something over and jumble everything up anyways.

It's the shipping that kills me. $19 to get it to my house. And then I'll do the same thing I always do which is order another $90 worth of items to get free shipping on a $4 organiser 😂
