Home Depot is finally dropping the "Pro Black Friday Deals".

Spotted a mini toolbox. It looks very similar, but not identical to, the Mastercraft mini tool chest.

The description says "with tray" - but there's no pictures of it open to see what that means. Presumably there's a lift-out tray under the top lid?

I know what you're thinking - "I was hoping we'd get different colours like are available in the USA". Well...

Rona is having a today-only, online-only, "Black Friday" sale - pretty loose use of that name IMHO.

Code "FLASH24" gives you 30% off a bunch of stuff. To be honest, I didn't think it was that exciting... but then I spotted a Bosch 12v Finishing Sander and decided I did actually care.

I have a couple Bosch 12v tools (right angle die grinder and 3" cut-off tool) and I could use a small sander. 30% off the regular price of $179 gets it down to $125.30. Then I decided to try my luck on a price match with Home Depot - sure enough, they applied another 10% discount, making the price $112.77. That was enough discount to sway me!

71jVKUR4-2L._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg

I did have to do the price match twice (though the online chat) to make it work.

The first agent told me coupons and promo codes are excluded from the price match policy - I asked where it said that and she quoted something that didn't say that at all (something about discounts that are unspecified). I just closed the chat and tried again and the second person said "no problem!"

Incidentally, the Bosch 12v GEX12v-5n 5" random orbit sander is on sale for $69 at Atlas.

I don't really need another 5" ROS myself, but the price is tempting. If shipping wasn't $20 I'd probably grab it too, just to have a small ROS option. Can't think of anything else I need to get it over the free shipping threshold.

On mitre saw check this out: https://www.princessauto.com/en/10-in-sliding-compound-mitre-saw-with-laser/product/PA0009214768

I am familiar with mitre saw prices, so you should shop this one around.

Not sure where you're located but the local (Sktn) Construction Fastners is advertising a big pre black Friday sale this weekend.
It appears to be about $100 less than Home depot. It appears to be

I couldn't find it at KMS. My guess is its a DIY model versus a true contractor model. It is still a mighty fine saw.

I picked up a couple of the 2Ah batteries. There was also a 2x4Ah for $98, and a 6Ah for $98.

then two of these at 119 each, one black one red, I could see more down the road to the point I say I can’t reach the stereo. Red I have to order in, black is in stock.

Looked at the Proto torque wrenches in surplus at PAL the other day. They felt well made. Interestingly they came in a plastic tube, not a protective case. Not sure if that’s more euro style, because of the handle shape, or because of the industrial focus. Anyone have other thoughts on them? I don’t think I’m in until there’s a sale, but 150 would be a nice size to have.

Has anybody seen the Proto Box in their local PA yet? If so whats the verdict?
I stopped into the PA south Calgary store.

I guess it could be used as a toolbox, but I think it's more of a rolling parts room / workstation. I envision this being super useful to a semi trailer mechanic that rolls out to work on trailer and has air fittings, wire connector, light bulbs etc. The dividers are cool, but they are designed for stock management. Being the touchy feely guy I am I opened all the drawers except the broken one that wouldn't.

My guess is they had a big cancellation probably from a fleet or something and PA wound up buying them all.

I recently got the 50 to 250 ftlb unit during the sale but admittedly haven't used it yet! I happened to stop by the store earlier this week and picked up the 30 to 150 ftlb unit. Based on a suggestion from a member here, I asked if they would honour the previous sale price and to my surprise, they had no issue at all. The checkout clerk simply scanned it and rang it through at the reduced price. They made it seem as if it's pretty standard practise so probably worth a try to ask.

I used the 150ftlb unit to torque some lug nuts to 83 ftlbs. It worked fantastic.

If you didn't notice when handling them, the head is removeable/interchangeable so if you purchase compatible crowsfoot style heads, you can now use them to torque harder to access items or threaded fittings (hydraulic lines) that don't allow use of a socket. I don't see myself doing that anytime soon, but it's a nice option.

I'm not sure on the tooth count of the ratchet, I will have to check and report back. The ratched mechanism seems smooth and is more refined than some of my other (cheaper) torque wrenches.

Canadian Tire has a "spend $150, get $30" event today. By itself, that's at least interesting. However, the triangle rewards bonuses seem extra good too... though I don't see any official advertising about that.

I swapped for:
  • Spend $150, get $25
  • 20x on garage and tool cabinets
  • 20x on Mastercraft
Also had:
  • 10x on tool cabinets
  • 10x on Mastercraft
Decided to buy this:

And got this back in Canadian Tire Money:

That's not bad IMO!

Still got to wait til Christmas. Or possibly the week before when we have my mom and sister over here.

190$ in CT money on my card, that’s earmarked for another Woods cooler in the 35L range when it’s on sale.

HD cards are seriously hinted at so I can buy either another roller box at 278$ (not on sale) or the intermediate boxes at 119$ ( I pretty sure moms getting me that).

Lee Valley Cyber Event on December 2nd. There will be discounted gift cards, special buys and seconds tools.

In past years I've been able to purchase the discount gift cards and get them in time to buy Christmas presents (though it's tight). Not sure that'll be possible with the Canada Post strike though.

CT's Red Thursday flyer shows this DeWalt-branded long reach 3T jack will be on sale tomorrow for $200. Debating whether to finally use my CT money, as I've always wanted one for jacking from the front/rear lift points, but at the same time I don't really want a 3-ft long jack taking up floor space.

Milwaukee M12 screwdriver kit $78 at Wiseline tools.

2401-22_Kit.jpg

PM opportunity at Home Depot - since the kit is $138 there. Although Wiseline has a brick and mortar storefront, sometimes Home Depot won't agree to beat it by 10% if you're not local. That rule seems to vary by the customer service agent.

If you're buying more Milwaukee tools though, Wiseline also has discounts based on $ spent for the next couple days. E.g. $25 off $249, $100 off $599, $200 off $1000. See the website for details.

I spotted these mini-flex-double-box-end-ratchet-wrenches on Amazon. "Black Friday" priced at $32 for the set.

Yes, I appreciate it's kind of a novelty with limited practical utility. However, I wanted something like that ever since I spotted the Vim version, but couldn't justify Vim's sky-high price (currently $167.28 for 3).

Reviews are good, so hopefully they're decent. They won't fold up on themselves like the Vim version, but maybe the slightly longer size will have it's own benefit.

Don't know if this thread is meant for new stuff only, but this used 2-post lift in London Ontario for $800 (and dropping) sounds too good to be true:

Hofmann 2-post car lift car jack

***WILL DROP PRICE $100 EVERY OTHER DAY UNTIL SOLD. IF THIS IS LISTED, IT'S STILL AVAILABLE.*** This is a two-column carjack. The motor I believe is the wrong one, but it works (it's a 120 vs. the 240 which should come with it). Regardless the unit is in good working order. It's available immediately, first come, first serve. Thanks. Limit 6500 lbs.

BF2024 for 15% off site-wide at MHC today. Interestingly, it works on the sale tools too... I'm seriously considering the Milwaukee M12 Nibbler. PM at HD also an option.
