These small storage bin totes are pretty awesome for organizing smaller items.

$4.44

I have several of those. That reminds me, I also recently got a bunch of these from Home Depot:

7L versus the 12L from Princess Auto, but they're $3.97, more robust and you can see the contents. I'm not saying they're better since it depends what size you need, but that's another very well-priced option.

Being clear makes it worth so much more (to me, at least). Saves me from digging through each one because I forgot what's in them and didn't label them.

I picked up the Craftsman wrench sets from princessauto today, I am a mobile mechanic, I have wrenches in wrench rolls but hate having to unravel the roll to get to a wrench. These sets should serve me well.

I grabbed a set yesterday too! I had them before, so I'm very familiar with them and I think they are fantastic. I was very excited when matthew noticed they were back.

I had gone as far as eyeing up the Toptul set in a similar style as replacements for what I lost in my garage fire (Toptul AAEX), but that set is more expensive and, while quite good (I bought one wrench to test out), probably not equivalent to these V-series/Facom wrenches.

At the price Princess Auto is selling them for, that's got to be the best deal in wrenches I've ever seen. I REALLY like the case, which might seem like a silly reason to be excited for wrenches, but it's super handy. It works in a drawer when open, but really shines when you want to grab a set to work on a vehicle. I think you will enjoy them working as a mobile mechanic.

They're a shorter pattern than most, but I don't notice that much. It's probably a benefit 90% of the time. When I do need substantial torque, I switch to my XL pattern Maximum box-end ratchet wrenches.

Stop making me want more wrenches!

I mean seriously…

I’d have said that Toptul set looked very close - are they not rebadges? Anything in particular that you notice? Had you bought any other Toptul to try?

I’ll say it again - I have enough wrenches. And if I bought more it should be offset dbe. Which i also shouldn’t. But darn, temptation.

Also, I had wondered - did you lose that Mazda pickup in the fire?

I think Toptul has their own production. They're not the same as Facom, but are very similar. The Facom/V-series wrenches have tested VERY well on TTC, so I have more confidence recommending them. However, the 13mm Toptul wrench I bought... I honestly would say it feels equivalent.

It has a nice satin chrome finish, soft edges, precise jaws and feels plenty stout. Toptul stuff is pretty impressive for the price point. It makes me wonder how it would compare if TTC tested them. It wouldn't surprise me if they were in that same class as Facom, but until they do, I can't say I know.

Honestly, I WAS going to buy the larger Toptul set after my experience with my 13mm test sample - but then these V-series popped up for cheap again...

All I can say is that for ~$45, that V-series set is incredible. Price that out as a Facom set - I think it would be about $240, and they certainly appear to be the same wrenches. If you need a larger size range, the Toptul set is available in a larger configuration for ~$120 - which I think is a good deal too (that is literally what I was about to buy).

That *****. I wish Mazda still made a mini truck. Was it on a ranger platform?
Like JunkBonds said, this was made by Mazda in Japan - mine was actually labelled a Ford Courier, but it's the same truck as a B1600 except for some styling cues (most obviously the grille - which can swap with the Mazda version). Also the pickup bed - that was apparently added by Ford later for tax reasons.

The next generation (beginning in 1977) was still a Japanese truck, but Ford started supplying their own engines too.

Bought the last one in Lloydminister. None anywhere in Sask or both stores in Edmonton. We were on our way to Edmonton and had to pass through Lloydminister. When I originally looked there were 6 in Lloyd. Last night when we were at the lake they were down to one. Stopped in and couldn’t locate any, asked a sales person and they still showed one in the store. So as we were walking to the original display I seen one on a tool chest. No box or wrench but it did have a cut off wheel on the grinder. The sales rep and I went to look for the wrench to get off the wheel but couldn’t locate the missing wrench. I said no problem I’ll just trade the wrench for the cut off wheel. She said okay and even gave me an additional 15% off the price. 👍

Order online and pickup at your store. I've had mail orders split shipped from Vancouver to Halifax all for one (low) shipping cost. They go all out to find stuff for you. Check it out, the shipping might just be worthwhile.

I bought the Proto 150 and 40 ftlb torque wrenches for just under 100 each. I’m still very happy with what I paid - they’re both nice, but also really good sizes. If your store still has some, they’re worth picking up. Did I strictly need a 150 instead of my Maximum 250? No. Is it actually a better wrench, a better size, and worth having both? Even if you only use if for lugnuts - yes.

I am sorry for that.

Growing up, my next door neighbour was an interesting guy, and he had a Courier. I didn’t realize at the time how cool it was. I hope you can find another.

The Princess flier a few weeks ago had pictures of a new flagship store under construction in Winnipeg. While I only internet know you, given you’re the father of this thread, and PAL is a favourite, the idea kind of amused me of you taking the Mazda on a road trip / pilgrimage to the Princess mothership.

I feel for you buddy. I had a 1983 Lincoln Mark 6 that my Mom had purchased new (I think) 1983 and she retired it in 2000. She gave it to me and we drove it from BC to Sask. I was storing it at my Grandmother’s and temporarily backed it out of the driveway and on to the street. I guess a fuel line leaked onto the engine and it caught fire. Since it wasn’t plated no insurance but the fire department put out the fire. It was a beauty white 2 door with a blue interior with about 35000km on it. Sold it to a wrecker for $200. ☹️I did keep the spoked caps and have them still in the garage tucked away some place.

Those Proto torque wrenches are so cheap, I'm trying to figure out what I'd do if I had two of each.
I have too many torque wrenches as it is. Love that these have replaceable heads in case you want to use crows foot, but holding out for one that also has flex-head.

Are the ratchet heads the same size between the 3/8 model and 1/2?

Would be cool to be able to swap them for example if you only had 3/8 hex sockets but needed more torque than the 3/8 tw could you put it on the 1/2 tw?

No, they use a different sized drive tang, at least between the 150ftlb and 40ftlb that I have.

Is there a flex head kit to fit the drive adapter? Or maybe buy a 250 and get a 150 with flex head and you could swap the head between the two?

I have the 3/8 in my hand and I don't think a flex head would work without doing some calculations for the extra length added

Gearwrench website seems a lot easier to find interchangeable heads for the torque wrench than Proto.

89619 is an interchangeable flex head ratchet for a 14mm x 18mm drive tang.

Trouble is I can’t find any manual for it or the wrench to cover any corrections that may or may not be necessary because of the length.

Sunex jumbo metric wrench set, 7pc 33mm - 50mm

Cheapest it's been since Oct 2022 according to the camel.

Don't see many other options for jumbo metric wrenches in this price range
Nice wrenches, but I always check out reviews. Are all nut turners stupid or just this "Verified Purchaser".

Wrenches don't seem to be terrible quality it's just that this set has a few crucial skips in sizes and I wasn't aware of that prior to buying so don't make the same mistake if you need every size from 1 5/16 -2 inch.

I'll look up your video. I was just going to use a temperature gun to make sure the oil was hot enough once topped up. I watched a Mr. Subaru video and didn't see a relearm unless I missed it, but he did use a scanner to watch the oil temp.

Whether I do a full flush (which is really just a couple of drains and fills) depends on whether the solenoid replacement works. If not, the car has over 400,000kms and is rusting like crazy underneath, so not sure how much more I want to spend on it than an $80 solenoid (and $120 in fluid) if there's actual tranbsmission damage that I can't DIY. Fingers crossed!
Relearn isn’t required on a fluid exchange, but temp monitoring of the CVTF is.

Woah, if you're THE MrSubaru1387 from Youtube, I LOVE your videos (but hate that you make everything look so easy since you're not in the rust belt)! It was your video about the Dorman solenoid being available that gave me hope that I can fix the CVT on my own. Thanks for clarifying about the relearn!
