Yeah, I'd be interested in some feedback on this as well. I recently found a need for a clamp type DC ammeter and bought a Uni T 210E (haven't received it yet) but may have got this one instead since the clamp is separate and it's easier to read the display when it's not jammed up under a dash or something.

This week's PA Flyer has the Power Fist Flare Nut Crowfoot Wrench sets on sale; $12 down from $20

Alternatively, next week's flyer has the Titan set on sale; $23 down from $35

The Titan set has 3 extra sizes (the missing 11, 16 & 18m on the metric side, larger 13/16, 7/8 and 1" on the SAE side) and looks like it comes with a rail which the PF doesn't have in photos.

There's also the option of regular/non flare nut set of Titan Crowsfeet next week for $20, down from $30 next week.

Also, next week has the PF 4pc Heel Bar Set for $15 (50%) off and a 24pc Combo Wrench Set for $30.
I've heard the heel bars are great (unless they've been changed), and I'm tempted to buy a $30 wrench set I can throw in my bottom drawer for the day I need to cut/bend a wrench and don't want to wreck my nicer set.

For those Canadians that need concrete tools, Millbank Country Hardware has a fairly complete line of brand name concrete tools. They have a sale going on currently.

I've been after a clamp on type for a while.
I haven’t seen it. Specs in the manual seem okay. And it does measure DC current with the clamp.

I, too, would like a clamp. If the clamp was sold separately I’d probably buy one. But I think if I was getting the whole new meter I’d get one with the clamp built in.

There’s an astonishing amount of selection in multimeters. Including many in the moderate price range. You may find that picking the right one is determined as much by how much research you want to do more than there really being an answer…

While at school (Heavy Duty Mechanic) they had a Napa clamp meter in the tool crib, I think it was this one (which actually happens to be on sale right now. It's a pretty decent unit. I probably would have bought one but I'd already got a Fluke (117).

Not sure this will appeal to everyone, but I think I would like to try this hammerless cold chisel from Mayhew.

$7.99 from Princess Auto

Sadly the "free shipping on order over $30" promotion is over, so you'd have to spend $150 to get that now. Probably makes this more of an in-store only deal.

It's not even that. When I last looked at the PA site it was "save up to $30 on shipping on orders over $150". Not much of a reason to order anything online IMO.

Once again, thank you for informing me of something I did know existed but now must have! 😂

This thread always costs me money, but it's always on sale so good value. Right? At least that's what I tell myself.....

The Tekz 4pc prybar set is coming back on special - $8.88. Seems crazy good to me, but I already have two sets and bought a third to give away. I posted about the set earlier in this thread, but it will be on sale again come March 13.

These aren't strikable pry bars, but the handles have proven quite robust for me (I hit them with rubber-face deadblows when I need some impact action and the handles seem no worse for wear). Not much flex either.

I'm not saying these are equivalent to Mayhew, but they're not even 1/10th the cost either.

Huot style (Vevor) drill index cabinets are on a great deal right now. $80 each. Never seen them below $100 CAD. Took the plunge and grabbed 3 of em for my taps, drills and misc milling/lathe cutters

All the knifemaking stuff like rivets and Micarta on clearance at Princess. They were super expensive when new no wonder it didnt sell. Prices are still high but at least a bit more reasonable.

Also there is Post Inventory clearance going on too. Lots of old/odd/outdated items on clearance tables at least at my store. Metabo 4.5" grinders were on clearance for around $70. I was this close to picking one up, I would have but they were the made in China models, if they were the Made in Germany I would have bought!

I am looking for flex head rachet and am wondering if these are any good?

(I am kicking myself for missimg the clearance sale on Propoint flex heads)
They're titan brand. Not bad quality in my experience. Not a regular stocked item so future warranty might be an issue.

IIRC crappy tire had a set of gear wrench on recently for similar money but I could be mistaken. Also dont overlook Ultrapro from Napa.

Edit: crappy tires ones on sale are standard length non flex.https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/maximum-ratchet-set-90-tooth-3-pc-0580465p.html?rq=&loc=plp

Toptul from Cryer is another option: https://cryertool.com/product/flex-head-ratchet-_x000d_handle-with-quick-release

They have roto ratchets too.

For my long 1/2" flex head I use a Gearwrench 120xp. I think swing arc becomes more important the longer your ratchet gets. E.g. 5 degrees at the end of a 8" handle is hardly anything. At the end of a 18-24" handle, it takes considerable movement to grab the next tooth.

Maybe depends on what you’ve got, and what you need it for…

I’m just DIY, and I’ll admit to not having all that much flex using experience. But I tend to like my roto ratchets first. Although I’m looking forward to using my Powerfist flex.

I haven’t seen any great sales on Napa Ultrapro in a while, but they also merit a look.

My long 1/2” ratchet isn’t flex. It’s only 36 tooth. Most places I use 1/2” are not close quarters. I could see a flex like that being nice at times for knuckle clearance.

If you want to buy an heirloom, and don’t mind quick release, Gray does go on sale every so often. I’ve used a friends’, and it’s very nice. That would be a “buy one 3/8 instead of 3 pieces” sort of deal…

I have a different sku and they're actually not terrible. I've broken a few wailing on them, lost a bunch as well. The mini prybar takes mountains of abuse though. $20 doesn't get you much any more I just have no interest in sets with all those 1/4" bits bulking out the "80pc".

I have a set too. I actually like the handles. I think I tossed the long straight as soon as I opened the box. Crooked as hell lol

Couple of tempting pocket knife deals from Cabelas. These two actually come on sale somewhat regularly, but this weekend there is also free shipping.

First, a Cabelas' exclusive Buck Vantage in S30v for $70. I don't think I've ever seen a cheaper knife with that blade steel - that's why I think this is a great value. It's stainless, tough and holds and edge well. This steel is usually found on knives in the $140-250 range.

I like that it's a full-flat grind (slicey) with a thumb hole and flipper tab - and the tail-mounted deep carry clip.

Kershaw Tumbler in D2 for $80.

A D2 blade on this one, which is the budget steel with the most edge retention. D2 is semi-stainless and moderately tough - but it has very high abrasion-resistance (hence it holds an edge for a long time). It's grain structure is a little on the coarse side, so with that coarser grain and high abrasion-resistance, it's not the easiest to sharpen - but you don't need to do it as often.

I think the key selling point on this Tumbler is that it's solid G10 construction (with carbon fiber overlay) without steel liners, making it VERY light for the size: 2.6oz with a 3 & 1/4" blade. A budget Benchmade Bugout competitor perhaps?

It looks like a high-hollow grind - but I didn't confirm that. Also has a tail-mounted deep carry pocket clip.

317681-277578.jpg

I think I'm going to get one or the other - but I can't decide which. Any advice?

The Tumbler appeals to me more. I like that it's a larger blade and still light. However, S30v for $70 is also exciting.

Here is another surplus deal from Princess Auto:

3 pc Metric Socket Holders for $14.99

The 1/2" holder may not be that useful to many diyers - most people have 1/2" impact sockets rather than chrome sockets; and the impact sockets will likely not fit. But hey, normally each of the three holders will be about $14.99.

Same price for the SAE socket holders.

I have both these (well different colours, but same models) and the genuine Hansens. These are actually better IMHO. The pegs are more durable. Only issue is the 1/2" trays are wider (longer?) than the Hansens so they take up more room. Cant beat them for the price though.

My day has come! Peavey Mart occasionally does a $10 gift card exchange, but I heard legends of the Princess Auto program. I have SO many dead batteries lying around. I'll be rich!

LOL. I first found out about this last April, not sure if that's when they started. Back then it was only $10/battery. I procrastinated and missed out, but now it seems to have worked in my favour. Hopefully this will be an annual event.

Could you measure them (and the Hansens) if you get a chance? I'm toolbox shopping and my current racks won't fit in my ideal layout in a 44" box.
