Watch out this "new" member doesn't give you a large check, asks for less than that in tools and then asks you to return the balance too!!

Yes, this is a old scam. Not saying this is what the OP is asking or inclining to do to others, just that I have heard of this scenario before too!

Have to disagree with you here! They have been having INCREDIBLE sales prices on MasterCraft tools lately. Gauranteed for Life. Well designed. If I didn't already have most everything, I'd be spening a lot more, but in the last few weeks I bought Gear Wrench 7 pce sets (SAE and Metric) for $25 each, a Torx 21pce socket set for $14 and a bi-metal holesaw kit for $50 (reg $129). A while back I bought (two!) 4.5" MC Angle Grinders for $18 each!

I have my share of older Mastercraft stuff. Wasnt bad back then. THere was still some canadian content:lol_hitti

Dont have much faith in the new stuff. A buddy got one of their 180? piece sets. Ratchets are ****, Sockets arent too bad.

Ratchet wrenches arent too bad either. I have the old professional series though. Dont know about the current "maximum" ones.

Canadian tire is getting cheaper and cheaper quality wise. If price is your driving concern, then princess auto has the same stuff for cheaper. With the same warranty.

When you see stuff like the holesaw set 129 marked to $50 what does that say about the cost of the item, and Cdn tires markup? Theyre still profiting at 40% off :wtf:

No offense, but have you used those $18 grinders yet? I had to suffer with them at a job once, burned through 2 in a afternoon. Even the tightass boss had to agree they were ****, took them back and bought a makita.

Oh and watch those grinding wheels that come on a spool like a DVD. they hav a nasty tendency to blow up. But hey theyre cheap :lol_hitti

Have to agree 100% the current Maxim branded tools look like aszz, and perform worse. I had the unlucky situation where they had to repair one of my rachets, but the girl at the center did not have the correct gear mesh for the rachet I had. She said the only option was to hand my old one back and receive the new style maxim's.

I told her thanks, but no thanks, and asked her to call around to the other stores which had the old style gears I needed.

BTW: One of the things some of these franchisee con artist are trying to do is ask you for a receipt prior to giving you any warranty.

I have to ask you . . . How many people have a receipt for every tool since purchase that is over 35 years old???

Not too many I can assure you!!! When I was asked by one of the so called assistant managers to produce a receipt for the said rachet. I replied this tool is older than you!!! Show me a receipt you have from 35 years !!!

She just turned red and walked away, mean while the store manager just pointed at some silly aszz neon sign indicating what she said as well.

So, at this point I had enough . . . Asked for the corporate number proceeded to call it and then handed the phone over to the two morons on duty.

*Conclusion* I recieved a parcel in the mail from corporate HO, with the old style gears, old style rachet, and a $100.00 of CT money. :lol_hitti:beer:
