I plan to install a Modine Hot Dawg 75K BTU heater in my shop.

My question is do I require a disconnect switch (other then a dedicated breaker in my panel) and if I do can it be located high on the wall near the furnace or directly on the heater (if that's even possible).

Maybe
If the breaker is within sight and within 3 meters of the unit . It also needs to be accessible without passing the unit (if it catches on fire you can kill the power without risking being trapped) then no you don't need a switch
If our panel doesn't meet the above then you do need a switch that meets the above ,we mount switches on the sides of heaters all the time in commercial so that should be fine at least by Canadian electrical code not sure if there are any Ontario amendments that supersede the CEC on these rules
