I see Canadian Tire have a 'Mastercraft' framing nailer on sale for $100. I'm wondering if anyone has used or has an opinion on this product.
Product # 58-8434-4

Thanks;

OK, I have the "previous" version that looks the same to me but mine is dark blue. I am always a little cautious saying they are the same since CT changes OEMs quite often.... Both mine and the one you listed are oddball 34 degrees so other is a good chance they are the same.

First off, 34 degree nails are not too common, would get pricey trying to use them... I run what I think is 31 but I am not 100% sure (I run the closest angle regularly available).

Mine works pretty good, every once in a while it double taps. With one nail all the way in and the second right beside it half way in, when it happens the second one gets finished with a hammer. I would estimate this at one in about 50 nails.

I had to go over it well with my Allen keys. First day of use it jammed up. I noticed a bunch of Allen bolts were loose. Easy fix with a little attention. Maybe a minor QC issue.

I feel it is heavy, but since this is the only framing nailer I own I cannot say if it is heavy compared to others...

Runs fine off my pancake compressor.

For homeowner use I think it is good for the price, when on sale of course.

Why not spend 100 bucks more and get the pro grade bostitch with a 7year warranty? I own this gun and it's a beast on the job site.

I've got the older versions of that framing nailer (and their roofing nailer and 3 in 1 nailer). They are cheap but work. I run paslode nails in the framing one and it does fine. I haven't had a jam yet, a couple double fires but not that often and mostly my fault anyway. Depends what you want it for really, if it's professional work forget it...if it's occasional household use, it's ok.

I should mention though, they sometimes bundle the nailers...I can't remember which 2 I got together but for the 3 mastercraft nailers I have I didn't pay over $200 total with tax.
