So I was in my local Canadian Tire and i noticed that all the old Maximum stuff is on clearance so I tool a look at thr new stuff......all stamped no laser etching. Did Canadian Tire actually listen to all the complaints and change it on purpose? Or is it something more along the lines of they have a new supplier who makes it differently. I have a suspension they are now Gearwrench where as all their old stuff was Stanley. Anyone have thoughts?

Hmm.. That's interesting. I'll have to take a look next time i'm in there. I really hope they fix the "skips" issue, or i'm done giving them my money.

Yeah, I am getting pretty selective on what I do and don't buy there. I am buying Gray and Gearwrench since my last MC set. Honestly I just hope they didn't do it just to put together a even crappier set. It is too bad because if they actually kept a "professional" set, I am sure there are people (mechanics etc) who would buy it regularly. But as it is now, it seems like it is a step in the right direction.

Id LOVE to see them go back to offering the old Mastercraft Professional series. Even though it was import, they were good tools. Glad they got rid of that overhyped and stupidly named 'Maximum".

Gearwrench (Still does??) used to make their ratchet wrenches. I got a couple sets of them. IIRC they are stamped Mastercraft on one side, GW on the other??? so GW taking over making the whole MC line kinda makes sense.

I would buy a lot more there if they got Gray making a professional line for them in Canada again. Even if it wasnt the "main" line, that could be import, just to have the option to get something better would be nice. Gray could use the boost and many towns like my own, dont have a Gray dealer.

They still got to work on their staff and customer service, but I could deal with that if I had to.

Gray does have a import line called Dynamic. Decent stuff, but for some reason, their 1/4 inch stuff only comes with laser etching (where as everything else comes both stamped and laser etched) You know what I did recently discovered though, Home Depot carries GRAY on their website, and it is a decent price too. Food for thought.

Is this on the sockets specifically?

If so, great. I refused to buy any of that laser etched junk.

LD, are the princess auto sets laser etched only or are they stamped as well? Are you happy with the sockets? Any brand that you would compare them too?

Looking on the PA website, it looks like only laser stamped?

I only use impact sockets from PA. They're stamped and laser etched. They've been awesome! They're made in Taiwan and are CR-MO steel. The popular brand sunex sold in the US are made in the same place. Wait till they go on sale. This 2 sets I post are lifesavers.

This set on sale is 125
