Save your money.. Not sure where abouts you are in Canada, but I suggest hitting up Kijiji for a decent used box

Thanks to all.

Hoping for something better than what everyone replied I went to look at one of these this morning... very disappointing with .0415" drawer sides, just bent 90° at the top instead of rolled. They had others including a DeWalt branded, none were much better as far as I could tell.

Even for home use these seem under-built unless maybe they are just sitting there with no tools being taken out and put in regularly. Not worth the C$599 "50% off" price and certainly not worth the C$1199 regular price.

So you were right and I left empty handed but slightly wiser.

Plan B: Who distributes Beach in the Hamilton / West GTA?

Plan C: Drive to Niagara Falls, NY to get another HF 44" + side cabinet, but not on a (U.S.) holiday weekend. I doubt the HF are in the same class as Beach but the one I have is better than the Maximum or anything else I have seen in big box stores locally.

Shouldn't be hard to find a distributor in Ontario, the website shows a bunch of locations.

Yes. Yes, it does.

And all of them have a link to e-mail Beach for details, which I have done.

Unfortunately none of them actually say who the distributor is.

Happened to me too, I figured it was an anomaly because I was in BC where there is only one supplier. Hopefully they get back, I'd love to support some Canadian manufacturing. Plus those old school stacks are fantastic looking.

I tried to get a Beach stack and I don't know if they're available any more - the parent company has now closed:

I don't know if they will sell off the Beach brand, or do some sort of business maneuver that would let us all buy Beach toolboxes again. I'm just glad I didn't end up losing money.

Right now, I think the best made-in-Canada option are the GH International boxes being sold through Costco.ca's website (NOT the warehouse stores, those only have Kirkland and Homak boxes):

Someone else just received a chest via Costco.ca. They are made to order and shipped via freight (rail and truck, in this case). I was very tempted to buy the 27" Hot Value stack but ended up buying a used chest and roller semi-locally.

Ya sad day, I didn't realize they shut the doors. They were active on another forum within the last year, I figured everything was fine.

I ordered and took delivery of a Beach top chest and roller cabinet in Sept. I've been meaning to post some pics on the Beach toolbox thread but have been too busy. I emailed Beach directly and dealt with Landon Hicks, phoned in payment via credit card, they shipped the boxes in a few days and I picked them up at a local freight company.

GH Metals made mail boxes and mail sorting equipment. I can't imaging that's a growth industry. Did they shutter the mailbox part of the company but are keeping Beach toolboxes going? Someone should call them on Monday and see if anyone answers.

I had also been dealing with Landon. Great guy. I had emailed him to sort out what I wanted and had called once to try to pay (via credit card). He said the paperwork wasn't ready, so I left it at that. That was late October. I did email back a few times but never tried calling again.

I do hope that the Beach brand will continue somehow!

I use a snap on box for work and I have a mastercraft maximum line for home. Mastercraft maximum are great boxes. Very sturdy and have 2000lbs weight capacity per drawers. They have smaller depth but great boxes for home! Best bang for your buck if you live in Canada only when on sale. Husky, Dewalt, Milwaukee, beach, Waterloo, Costco special ******** example Kirkland/Homak does not compare. Lastly stay away from KMS tool boxes brand name Bynford. Trust me I have coworkers that went through all the el cheapppo apprentice/beginner/starter boxes, the maximum line surpasses all. My dealership has 100 techs yes one hundred+ and I know from experience what's best for your $ money. Up to you, that's my 2 cent.

I am just now replacing my 56" maximum box. 5 years pro use, and her slides are finally starting to give up. I paid $600.

Replacing it with a 72" x 30" Montezuma. Completely different class in terms of build quality, but almost 5 times the money.

For starting out, the master craft was awesome.

Well, that seriously *****!! I've never laid hands on an actual Beach box, but I've always really admired their appearance and drawer layout.

My sympathies to you guys up North. Another reason to avoid "Made in China" tools and boxes.

I called Beach today. The phone number is still active but they had voice mail on saying leave a message and they'll call back. I sent an email to Hanna Lange-Chenier who is listed as their social media contact. She started and posted on this thread:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272670&highlight=beach+toolbox+back

She joined GJ Dec 15, 2014 but last activity was Aug 7, 2015.

Our Canuck buck is sitting at 75 cent/US dollar. 4 year ago it was at par. The lament of Canadian manufacturers was that we couldn't compete with a strong Canadian dollar as our costs of production are too high. So now when everyone outside Canada gets to buy our products at a 25% discount vs 4 years ago we still can't compete? At it's height Beach had 200 employees, lately 23, now zero. :(

I'm curious if I get a response to my email. I'll post back if I do.
