so I'm in the market for a new compressor. Looking at a 5hp, 80 gal, 2 stage upright model. I've been looking around and the deals that are on the US side of the border are much better than in Canada unfortunately. I have looked at this one http://oemproamtools.com/rkcomp/df580.htm. It doesn't come with a magnetic starter, which is a $225 option, plus shipping for the whole thing is about $200 (to my location anyway).

I'm wondering if any Canadian compressor purchasers could chime in here and let me know what they did/are doing. Maybe the deals in the US just don't exist up here??

I've bought stuff from these guys before. Good deals, until it's "overweight". That compressor to me is about $300+ in shipping. Quickly the "member price" is too much!!

Well I couldn't pass up the opportunity to plug the company I work for...
A Suggestion from what you say above
Everything we Carry in 5hp/80Gal
Note the used one at the bottom.
I might be able to swing shipping for <$100 on a new unit, but will ask my boss tomorrow. Don't know about the cost of shipping a used one, we would need more info.
Piper, I believe it was you who also who was looking for a rebuild kit for a DEV 547.. looking into it for you.

Babco caters to pro's, so rather expensive (I get their flyers after I got my lift routed through them). I second House of Tools - I bought mine from them. It was onsale for $999.00 and it's been great. It's a 3 cylinder and very quiet.

the 5hp 170 psi on the House of Tools site says it's a single stage. I thought anything that is at 170 is 2 stage. Can you confirm single or 2 stage on this compressor e-tec?

Try Princess Auto and Busy Bee Tools...they usually have something on sale....

Home Depot has decent compressors at good prices too...

I just bought a compressor from House of Tools, Pioneer brand. Portable upright, 2 cylinder, 2 hp 20 gal, belt drive, 5.1 CFM @ 90 psi 150 psi max.....paid with the tax $495.
I was impressed with this one, I shopped around at Acklands, Home depot, Cdn Tire all the usual places. This was the one i liked.
