Anyone have experience on this style of lights ?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WMFQNZ1/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I have a roughly 20x20 garage I need to light up I work on my car and motorcycle in there sometimes along with other typical DIY projects. This area is also my ManCave space, Im starting a complete remodel and want something a little better looking than the led striplights I have up now. Also looking for information on how many lights I may need and the layout. My neighbor has time next week to help with the electrical so I need to get a plan in motion ASAP.

They work well, even if there's a joist/stud/truss etc in your way as they are only 1/2" deep so they can be over the above mentioned and fit .
not sure on the longevity, but I like the look and ease of installing them .
some are colour (°kelvin) adjustable too

Yea I understand that, I can get similar from homedepot for a bit more money. Just not sure how many i need or how far to space them out. Im thinking maybe 5 rows of 5

I just installed four of these in a little 6'x9' laundry room and they're awesome. I'm sure they won't be available when one craps out years from now, so I bought an extra. I think that's the only problem with these. These types of products change so often that it probably won't be possible to get a new one in a few years.

The adjustable color temperature is great.

I tend to avoid things on Amazon when I can't even pronounce the name...

Cans in a shop is problematic. It takes a lot to get decent light levels for work. Figure 4-5 cans to replace one 2 lamp strip light. Your ceiling will be swiss cheese.

It would be tedious to install enough lights to give a high enough level of lighting to do shop work, but if this is the look you’re seeking, it’s pretty damn cool!
Don’t neglect to wire in some dimmer switches for your desired man cave TV watching.

Based on the specs listed, you’re gonna need 2 or 3 boxes of 12 for a 20x20 garage to get up to recommended levels of lighting for shop work. For just hanging out and non critical work, not so many. Download a program to calculate how many you’ll need for one particular level of light. Most guys want about 75 fc at a working level of 36 inches for doing detailed work.
You’ll need about 4 of those to replace one twin tube LED strip light fixture. So if you used to have 9 of those in a 20x20 garage you’ll maybe need 36 of those puck lights.

What would be a better option to light up my amount of space good for let’s say $200 ? I have led strip lights from Amazon now they are nice and bright but I hate all the wires hanging from the ceiling, just doesn’t fit the nice clean look I’m going for now.

If you don’t mind the look of those fixtures, you can use your time and money to install a receptacle a couple of inches from the live end of each fixture and plug in. Bundle the wire tight with zip ties or cut off the plug and shorten the wire and put on a new plug. It will void the warrantee and code compliance if you do that but you certainly won’t be the first or last guy to do that. Don’t forget that all 120 volt receptacles in the house or garage should be GFCI protected to conform to the NEC.

I put receptacles near each of my 2 tube LED strip lights and just plugged them in. But I have open joist, unfinished ceilings.

Another option would be to hardwire your existing fixtures. There are probably some knockouts on the top of each fixture to pass wires through. Install new boxes over each place in the ceiling where you want a light fixture. You’d spend less than $200.

I assume you already have drywall on the ceiling and that you have access to the space above.

My ceilings are finished so I’d rather not have plugs.

Not sure what you have but most strip lights are hardwired. No cords.
