Can't find replacement parts!

I just I just bought an old craftsman sanderthe part number is 110.7800
It works and looks to be pretty well taken care of but it needs and new cord the old one has been rigged up with electrical tape and a motor seems to be running pretty weakperiod I would like to get some replacement parts and fix it up but I cannot find them anywhere does anyone know it website that I could order them from?

Just figure out the size of the cord and replace it with one from something else. I use a lot of old computer cords, read the print on the insulation and they usually say something like "18/3" or similar on them. This means 18 gauge wire. Sometimes I find them 14 and 16 gauge also. If you need something longer, you can usually buy an entire extension cord and just cut off the end for less than trying to buy a "proper" replacement.

As for other replacement parts, I'm thinking you didn't try looking very hard because there are a lot of places that sell replacement parts on the net, usually just typing in a Cman part number in a search brings them up immediately.

Welcome to Garage Journal.

As others have suggested, replacing the cord should be easy enough. I would however be careful about using a computer cord unless it is at least 16ga. Check the old cord and see what gauge the wire is. As for any other parts, you are going to have to be creative and likely make or source them yourself. I have not seen that model before and doubt they are very common. There is no official website for machines that old, unless you count eBay. If you need a specific part, it couldn't hurt to post a picture of it here. Folks will do their best to help.

Check the brushes and relubricate the moving parts. The grease is likely hard as a rock.

But then I re-read his post, and think (hope) he is asking for other replacement parts.

Not a whole lot to the motor, just brushes mainly. A local good hardware store usually has them on hand.

Here's the best place I've found for replacement power cords. Cheap and great quality. Just cut off the female end and you're good to go.

You could go with the above but it's a 3 prong and you only need two on your sander.

I'd go with something like this one.

As far as other parts for that sander you're pretty limited in specific pieces since that's an oldie. But the brushes and switch can be had as they're pretty generic items.
