Can't Sell My Snap On Stuff Yet

Hi everybody. Ive got a bunch of old Snap-On and Blue Point tools that I've decided to let go. But I can't sell 'em here 'cause I don't have 100 postings yet. Ive done local CL but so far no serious responses. Can someone recommend a site that is not EBay where I can connect with some aficionados?

On a kinda related note, I haven't been here in some time and when I logged on today it says I have never posted. I know I have posted quite a few times, although not the required 100. Has anyone ever had that happen. I had to change my password to log on and wonder if that may have something to do with it.

Around here snap on tools sell quick on cl unless you're asking to ,much. I avree 100 posts add up quick you could do that in no time

Ebay will bring more than a 13% premium over any other place to sell them. People are getting 75% of new for used and pretty much full list or over fro new stuff.

Maybe you've been doing what I often do. Instead of hitting the "Post Quick Reply" button under the text window I absent mindedly hit the "go" button and don't even realize my post didn't get included until the next time I visit the thread.

As a year long member here you probably know of some of the issues we've had from new members selling in classified and understand the 100 post rule. If you include your location in your profile we can find your CL ad or I think it's ok to post a link. Members local to you could contact you then.

I wanted to post a similar thread to this but this actually helped answer some questions I had. On a similar note, when you guys sell off old, extra etc. tools, do you guys sell in sets or try to sell each when it comes to sockets, wrenches, ratchets etc.? I have quite a few random wrenches I'd like to sell but want to avoid Craigslist. Seems like if I post $5 on something people offer me $2 delivered to their area.

If they are sets sell them in sets because shipping is better that way and it's a shame to break up sets. For odd brands and short runs price individually.Guys will buy a few to ship together. Shippings always the killer on small items so if you have enough stuff people can usually find enough items that interest them to fill a flat rate box and the shipping works out that way. That's my take on it anyway.

Might you have duplicate accounts that are similar?

I mentioned in a thread that I was interested in a couple of tool chest badges. Less than 48 hours went by before a "member" contacted me via my profile here through my e-mail. Offered to sell me 4 of them at an awesome price so long as I paid with a money order. I checked his profile. No posts whatsoever and he joined the day after I had expressed interest. Why couldn't he pm me? My message inbox had plenty of space left. Shady all around.

One other solution would be join the Alliance you can post right after joining.
But willing to bet your PM box is getting fulling with responses saying "What you got for sale". Which I guess this method of complaining about the classified 100 post rule gets the word out you have stuff for sale.

Most of what I have is just extra wrenches, I don't really think people want to pay shipping on a $2-$5 wrench. I've had more problems with eBay as a seller than I think it is worth, especially for cheap stuff like that.
I'm not sure what kind of Snap-On tools the guy has, if they are in sets or otherwise worth a bit of money it is still not a bad deal. I'd rather take a hit and sell it cheaper on forums than have to deal with the seller fees, final value fees, shipping fees, shipping costs etc. Then deal with resolutions if cases are opened.

This is true. I don't really pay attention to Snap-On prices.

If you facebook search "Quality Tools Tag Sale" there's about 13,000 members. tools move pretty quickly (unless you're asking $5 less than the website offers it for)
I'd highly recommend it. I have sold and purchased a handful of tools there and have had excellent luck.

Yeah, BK13, I'm in Texas. Lubbock to be exact. There is not a current ad running on our CL. I did that a couple months ago, but I might try it again. Looks like the consensus here is Ebay. I know there's nothing wrong with that. Ive been buying and selling stuff there for years. I guess I was thinking this would be a better place to sell everything in one lot. My observation of Ebay is that most people sell tools as individual pieces or small sets. Could be wrong though. Ill look into it a little more.

A few months back I became obsessed with wanting to find a big vintage air compressor to restore. Don't ask me why. I get like that every so often. Anyway, I spent A LOT of time here learning about that. Most of it was reading and researching, but I'm pretty sure I posted some questions. I haven't found any duplicate accounts, dkroth, and it is possible I did what 2oolhound suggested. No big deal, really, just a curiosity.

Hey! This is a pretty long post. Could I break it down and post individual paragraphs and get 5 posts for 1? Or by sentences! No, I guess that would be too snarky Plus it would be too hard and wouldn't work. The Alliance idea is better. Thanks pi_guy. I like joining stuff. looks like I pissed the op off for him to call me ****, But in the last two weeks we have had two different people who on their first 5 posts have wanted to go against the rules and post stuff for sale in non classified section. Once burned it is hard to trust a newbe whom don't want to follow the rules. And it is Rich or Richard to you....lol
It is much easier to join the alliance. If a person wants to sell stuff before their 100th post. Too many people got burned by one post wonders whom came and posted their stuff is why the owner of this site put the rules in.

Lol.. I think the **** Head reference was a play on your User Name, kinda funny if you think about it. Outside of that, I've bought and sold a lot of stuff here at GJ, New or Old as long as you CYA with PayPal it's damn near impossible to get taken advantage of, obviously outside of condition claims.

I regularly buy from GJ members and always looking for Snap on stuff. But I am from NY and suspicious of doing transactions with people that do not follow the rules. You wonder which other rules they do not agree with.

I had a teacher in high school named Richard Burns. I used to love saying "hey your **** burns!" (I know, play on words though), he would respond "why yes it does." I get looks that seem to say, "You really are a ****, huh?" Got it from my Dad I guess. There's a town around here named Muleshoe. He always called it Horse Slipper. He was pretty corny. I went to school with a guy named, I swear, Richard Sweat and I'm sure you know what we called him all through junior high. He's a big lawyer or somethin now. Probly makes 10 times more money than I do. The *******

I would have had 10 to 15 by now, just by answering each post in this thread.

And go to the introductions section and welcome each new member. Good for 5 or so a day.

Then go find the silly threads and make smart quips.

Find threads in your area of expertise and contribute.

And start a thread showing your tools, garage, boat, motorcycle, etc.

You could have 100 in a couple of days easy.
