Hey guys,

I'm looking for some help on designing some double cantilevered metal storage racks for work. I have a drawing I would like to build, but I now need to do the engineering of it. I am trying to figure out what size steel to use. I'm trying to make it as cost effective as possible, but I also want to make it safe. The heaviest piece of steel I should have on there will 10" x 20" I beam that weighs 25.4#/ft. It will be a total length of 20' coming in at 508#. I can't see having more than 4 sticks on one rack at a time. I plan on using 18in arms. So basically, I shouldn't have more than 2,000lbs on one rack. I plan to support it every 4' as well. There may be a calculator out there that will figure this up for you. I'm by no means an engineer either. I was hoping some of you have built these before or know how. Any pictures or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm trying to decide what material to build it out of. I have a lot of 4" square tubing, I beams, and Channel iron. But I want to base the material off of an engineered design. Not a "This should be plenty strong enough" design. Below is something similar that I plan to have my guys build. I'm sure it would be cheaper to buy, but upper management wants it built in house.

Thanks

I have 2 Jark cantilever racks, one button on and the other is a newer style. I can pull any measurements you need.
