Park from ?? Looks oldish, due to quality and awesome badge. I've got another cantilever around here somewhere. No name on it.

Picked this Stanley one up from Walmart for $30. It even includes a 31pc set of 1/4" drive sockets. There are 12-pt sockets as well as 6-pt sockets included.

Made in China replica of the Facom looks like. Only has a single handle and also not as long, (only 16" wide). It's a bit shorter than what I needed so I'm still contemplating whether I should keep it.

Where would a Canadian go to find one that is 20-22" long? Would I be spending 2 to 3 times the price of this Stanley one?

A couple ?s for you guys...

Do you find that the single handle variants are an issue to work with because it doesn't fold out of the way? Or do the Stahlwille, Hazet, Gedore and other models fold like the Kost?

I like the Gedore trapazoid bottom + zinc plated + powder coated. How study is the handle? Is it comfortable to carry? Any conclusion of COO on the Gedore?

I like the Stahlwille "short" 5 tray form factor quite a bit, looks like they are onen of the few that offer a "short" version. I agree that the stamp on the metal should still be there.

KTC is also nice, is the 9340 the weigth in g?

the condition of this Kennedy is amazing and the leather handle is in great shape too. I bought it like this last week and I barely need to clean it out before putting some tools in and start using it.

I'm actually thinking of picking up a cantilever toolbox for the tools I keep in my truck. I currently have a plastic Craftsman toolbox with the sliding drawers which I got free from my neighbor, but I think a cantilever box would be more useful. I keep the current box on the floor behind the passenger seat of my double cab Tacoma and it fits like a glove but limits the rearward sliding of the front passenger seat.

I've been eyeing the Craftsman cantilever box for years because my uncle has had one in his truck for as long as I can remember. I know Sears still sells one but it's probably not the best quality anymore.

I bought this Craftsman at a flea market a couple of years ago.

This box goes to hell and back with me six or seven days a week and never let me down, but she's starting to show it. Found a half can of herculiner from some previous project. Figured why not. Hopefully she gets a little more life from it. It is the Homak industrial that I believe is the same as the Kennedy. Great box. Not sure how I feel about the herculiner finish. Here's a before any prep picture and and after.

I think I overpaid on this one but here's my one and only cantilever toolbox. I'm debating using it as a giant heavy tacklebox or a toolbox for my gun cleaning supplies.

Probably blasphemy to say it in this thread but it's by far my least favorite toolbox...

Oh and I replaced the clasps with new ones that work so it cost me $35 total...I didn't realize when I bought it that they were broken.

About a year ago, I seen a road mechanic for Hyster forklifts and JCB equipment working out of a cantilever box. On the passenger side of the service truck was a newer Snap-on 9 drawer top chest, but on the driver was a old cant box. It seemed like his most used tools were in it.

I thought cant boxes were from days gone by, kinda surprised me that a experienced HD mechanic in his forty's would be using one as his main box

That's kinda the guy I would assume would work out of one. I started working out of this one when I was 18 or 19 so either a year or two ago. Whenever I slide it out some of the truckers, especially the younger guys would jest about how I use an "old white guy" toolbox. Don't really ever see cantilever boxes around. Claas has a dinky one (Stahwille (sp?) Looking) full of the specialty tools that comes factory in the box on their Jaguars. Was in the shop of a Deere dealer this summer and they did have over a dozen of the ones like mine on a shelf full of old model specialty pullers and miscellaneous hardware.

Love the box. Used a box with drawers before and absolutely hated The feel against my leg and the way the drawers wouldn't always latch. Thought I would hate a cantilever til I got one. This one has seen some rough SOB'n terrain at high speeds (like 300+ miles off-road a week) and had more wheels rolled up over it and into the bed and rims rested on it than care to admit. Seen every kind of weather imaginable. It's held up like a champ. Usually it's too overloaded to carry and just gets slid forward to the tailgate. They demoted me from my service truck to a rental pickup with absolutely no toolboxes for some reason so this is my primary and only mobile tool storage now. Goes in with me every night because I've had my stuff stolen too many times. Great box, albeit heavy. Hopefully the bedliner gives me a few more years with it.
