Capri Tools?

Has anyone heard of Capri Tools? I just discovered them while looking for tools online. Here is their website: www.CapriTools.com

I bought some obscure socket from them in a pinch a while back, I think it was a long triple square. It lasted through one job, barely. Didn't bother trying to warranty it, it served it's purpose getting me through the job I was working on.

Read their "About Us", they tell you all the great things you want to hear.....except made in USA. Most likely cheap Asian imports. $35 torque wrench says a lot.

If they made their tools in the USA (or Germany), it would be highly visible.

Haha, I just asked the same question but in another existing thread pertaining to triple-square bits. Capri Tools Tools are Made in Taiwan as far as I know, but not sure about their quality. I think any tools in general irrespective of their COO might have its shortcomings depending on the materials used and where they are sourced from. Definitely read up on reviews before making your purchase.

I have a set of Tamper Proof Triple Square bits from Capri. Feels pretty solid. Used it once for a transmission drain bolt. It was fine. I also have their LED work light, which has become my go to work light. Good run time, high quality LEDs (bright white, 5000K color, not the cheap blueish color or warm white). Overall I've been happy with them so far.

I think Capri and Neiko are both rebadging a lot of the same China/Taiwan tools. I also have the Capri XZN socket set and I have no complaints yet. Seemed like a pretty good set for the price.

Lately, I've developed the habit of avoiding the companies that don't offer adequate transparency over their products. That's why I've favored VIM Tools for the XYZ Bits, priced just over a few dollars more.

I have a Torx Set from Neiko Tools which has served its purpose though; very good quality, and has not let me down yet. Just hoping, somewhere down the line, their tools come with warranty.

Neiko doesn't seem to have any customer support portals, but if you go onto Capri's website, and Google search their address, 1788 W 2nd Street. Pomona, CA 91766, these brands all seem to fall under eToolsCity, which may be the primary folks overseeing all import operations of Neiko, Capri, and the likes. Thus, there may be some warranty, just may be, but your mileage may vary.

The Capri tools lithium led light is there best money you might spend on a cordless light, it's been talked about on here a lot. I have it, it's great.. I tend to judge products on the product, not on a name, or where it's made. People that push otherwise will bad mouth anything even if they have never seen or touched it themselves.

Their bench vises are made by Yost and painted in their own light blue signature color. These Yost vises are very highly rated.

I went back to Amazon and compared a couple of the socket sets between Capri and Neiko and they are a little different. Capri looks to mold "Capri Tools" into every blow mold case so that shows it's at least not a straight lift between brands. I didn't mean any offense by what I said earlier but I do know that a lot of the Chinese/Taiwanese OEM manufacturers will offer up the same product to multiple companies.

Anything you can tell us about Capri Tools or what you guys do to differentiate your brand beyond the warranty you mentioned earlier?

The topics of most importance seem to be country of origin and the materials used in the tools. Are any of your tools made or assembled in the USA? Do you make tools for anyone else or are any of your tools made in the same facilities as other tools? Your hex and torque bits look very similar to Carlyle. A lot of members believe certain companies, such as HF and Husky for example, are made in the same factories, but with different names stamped on the tools. Thanks and welcome aboard.

Old thread. Oh well. Google is great. I ordered the XZN 10 piece set from Capri. I'll be working on my 2012 Jetta. I also found a complete Torx set by these guys 60 pieces in total. For as much as I will need them. They will be great when I'm in a pinch. I looked at the SK torx set, maybe later down the road.

The only thing I have that says Capri are a couple of those 18" magnetic tool bars. I'll probably get a couple more. They don't have the *** for a long 1/2" ratchet. There's No surface area on the shank of a ratchet that heavy for the magnet to grab.
They hold a 8 to 19 combo wrench set and a handful of larger Channellocks just dandy.

Well I tested a fastener on my Jetta with an XZN I think it was the M10 for one of the bolts that hold the passenger seat, nice snug fit, no play between the bit and the fastener. Nice tight fit in the Snapon dual 80 3/8 drive ratchet. No scratches or scuffs on the bit coating. Seems like a solid bit. I'm going to have to be careful when selecting bits at first. Seems like the sizes are quite close. First time using XZN.

I've got that same XZN set and have been using it to maintain my Jetta as well. Absolutely no complaints. Sockets seem to be very good quality and it was an extensive set for really cheap. I got that one because very few of them go up to 18mm.

I agree they seem to be very good quality. And quite the range in sizes. The Torx set seems to be the same quality and complete with all the types and sizes. Very good value in both these sets.

Yeah right, I was looking at their 5 or 6-inch multi-purpose bench vises, it was between those and the Yost (5") one. A couple things about its picture I didn't find as cleanly designed were the nuts sticking out from the side of the pipe jaws (which could possibly be cut along with a pipe if you weren't careful), only three bolt holes on the base (for a top heavy thing), and powder coat on the sides of the flat jaws (which are otherwise not coated, like other pieces). Well the Yost one I got had chipped coating around those (but I painted it black, so whatever).

That and there were more reviews for the Yost (where they said the shipping process had been reinforced with wood to prevent major damage in transit). The Capri says it has a 10 year warranty, and both say they are ductile iron, so I'm not saying they're otherwise incomparable (which is what they seem to be saying, I don't buy it).

Oh, I just read on the other page here that their bench vises are made by Yost? Hmm, that's strange (different design there), similar in general though, and there are about ten other brands of this type of vise (checked out the American Presto version in a store first, wasn't as nice as its picture).

I definitely understand what you mean and no offense taken! Lots of companies are in the market to simply mass produce and sell quantity over quality. Some even sell without actually testing their own products. The difference between us and them is the simple matter of quality. Our products are tested and certified to meet and exceed market standards. We aren't here to push out a ridiculous amount of numbers, but to simply supply our customers with a quality product that they'll be able to use for years on without issues. The warranty is just a plus and of course for added piece of mind. Quality over Quantity!

Great question! Our tools are made in Taiwan specifically and we do not make tools for other companies. I would like to point out that our bench vises are however made in the same factory as Yost.

I agree they seem to be very good quality. And quite the range in sizes. The Torx set seems to be the same quality and complete with all the types and sizes. Very good value in both these sets.

I have Capri Allen sockets, and I really really like them. Used them a lot (Well select ones, like the 5m and 7) and not a single complaint, the bits dont even look like I've ever used them. As others mentioned VIM makes top quality stuff and probably a little nicer, but who really knows.

I also have the capri allen head sets in one service truck. bought both metric and standard sets for less than $50. They dont get used alot but they seem pretty nice. Havent broke. one yet so they must be ok cuz our guys can break anything lol. Also the cases are nice and compact for a complete set, which is a plus when youre trying to cram a 72” toolbox worth of tools plus parts and hardware into a service body.

Capri quality seems to be really good. I haven’t seen anyone posting up about breaking anything and dealing with the warranty… How does it work btw? I know with Tekton you can just send them a picture of the broken tool and they mail you a new replacement. No need for a receipt
