————————

Hi folks - long time lurker, first time poster.
We are doing a major renovation which includes tearing down our detached garage and putting up a new 24’ x 26’ garage with a room above that will be attached to the house.

Primary use is working on my cars, which occasionally includes some light fab work. Secondary use is the odd woodworking project.

The new garage will be setup for a lift w/ additional footers below, lots of outlets & light drops, multiple 220v drops, and a sink. The wife vetoed a urinal, but she may change her mind the first time I track oil through the new kitchen 😁.

Current garage comes down on August 1st.

Looking forward to the build and will post progress pics to this thread as we go. Open to any suggestions along the way.

Below is a shot of the current garage and my v1.0 setup.

It’s been a long time since I posted, but the framing is finally underway. I plan on getting a BendPak GP-7 lift so we ended up raising the ceiling height to 13’. It feels huge standing in there. The neighbors are now calling it the Garage Mahal

I ordered these honeycomb lights from alibaba. The arrays will be 20’ x 11’ in the right bay and 24’ x 11’ in the left bay. Who knows if they’ll work out but if not, my electrician is going to install a number of recessed lights instead.

The lights are like legos that come in ~1’ light units with tri connectors to piece the hexagons together. The lights are LED strips in aluminum channels with a translucent plastic cover.

For the electrical, my primary workstation is going to be to the right of the back door, which will also have a TV mounted on the wall above it. There are two two-gang boxes so 8 outlets total for this area.

To the left of the back door will be an L-shaped bench. This has a 220V outlet and another two-gang box.

There are additional two gang boxes along each side of the garage.

There is also another 220v drop in the ceiling for the lift.

I also had them install a hot/cold water mixing valve and spigot next to the slop sink.

Wow - I guess it’s been a minute since I provided an update.
We’ve moved back in last October and the garage is setup but awaiting the lift.
Bought a US General 56” toolbox and a bunch of husky cabinets.
The cabinet adjacent to the sink houses the elevator pump for the sink and a 35 gal air compressor.

Well done young man. Really like the idea of a cabinet for the pump & compressor. Keeps everything looking sharp!

The lift is finally in and operational! I couldn’t be happier! I am upgrading the calipers, rotors, pads, and MC on my SUV this weekend.
