Car Carpet Vacuuming?

I have a problem with dog hair in my truck....I've seen, but can't find, a velcro vacuum attachment that is supposed to do a good job picking up dog hair. It slipped on the vacuum hose and made it easier to pick up dog hair.

Has anyone got a link?

Serious problem...Ihave mobility issues. Recovering from a broken leg with 2 plates 14 1/4-20 screws!

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Well, the closest thing I could find was the first thing on this site:

http://www.discountvacuums.com/PETS.htm

If that doesn't work for you, and if you cannot locate what you're looking for, my wife says that you can use a damp (not wet) cloth to move all the pet hair across the seats and into one spot where you can vacuum it up. Apparently it's a Martha Stewart trick and it works with her mom's long hair cat (and that thing sheds!!!).

Good luck

Thanks Ed! I looked at the site.

I think the issue is static electricity.

We have a Sebo power head that works well on carpeting in the home. I've tried the small turbo air-powered heads; mine haven't worked at all. We have 3 Golden Retrievers, and they're shedding right now.

There was a display at the Toronto Auto Show with a vendor shilling the velcro brushes. The Show will be on soon...

Regards,
Dave

I've got an attachment on my shop-vac that works pretty good. They sell them at Home Depot for a few bucks.

Cheap alternative!

I use a rubber glove, the kind you wash dishes with. Just rub it on the seats and carpet... it picks up all the dog hair you can produce. Probably the static electricity.

If Luke doesn't mind check out this site--http://www.bettercarcare.com/. It's another forum but all about car detailing and care. They have a forum for just about everything. Wax, microfibre cloths, sponges, vacuums, etc. You could also ask Lynne Phillips, the moderator of the site what she thinks. She probably can answer the question or one of the many pro detailers that frequent the site could help out too.

My 2 cents.

I moderate over on a site called Detail City (http://detailcity.com). It's the best site (in my jaded opinion) on the web for answers to detailing questions. There are a couple of other good sites to check out also (http://autopia.org, http://meguiarsonline.com). I have not doubt you'll find a few responses to a question like this on one of them.

I've run into this problem in cars before. I've always found that if I take a good stiff brush (the kind you would use on a raised white letter tire) and wet is slightly before brushing it across the carpet, it will pick up just about any type of hair. This includes my 2 daughters hair that seems to get everywhere.

Thanks for the links! Truly appreciate them.

Did I say we have 3 Golden Retrievers? They're shedding. So much hair, the carpets are shedding!

I read on one of those sites that Bed Bath and Beyond had some brush or contraption that was great for Dog hair.

How about one of those rollers that folks use for jackets/coats for removing hair and lint. I think that they have sticky tape on them and you roll it over the fabric/carpet and it picks everything up? A bit more labor intensive (especially in your current crippled condition), but may be a very cheap alternative.....
