Car door/window rubbing noise

What do you guys apply to the rubber door seal to keep the door and rubber seal from creaking/rubbing?

So I washed my car as always. Rinse, foam, rinse, 2 bucket wash etc. As always. Dried the car with a blower. It’s so nice to have a coated car when blowing dry. Anyways, opened the doors and used mf towel to get the soapy water that remained. Nothing vigorous or overly thorough. Got the rubber seals on the car and the whole periphery of the door itself. All good. No issues. Car was in garage for 1 week since I applied a coating to the glass. About 1 week later I get into car and the freaking rubber-grabbing noise from the door was immediate. This would happen when going over uneven surfaces and was not there when driving straight on flat surface. I can only assume that I removed some invisible rubber seal treatment and nos the door is grabbing the rubber seal and fighting with it. I’m not sure who is winning, but I am losing for sure. Prior to this I would have said the car was super quiet in terms of interior noises. Now, this noise can drive you nuts.
I need to make this go away or I might slowly get angrier and angrier. Based on my details, what do you guys think I need to do to silence this craziness. Thanks in advance for the help.

Silicone spray. The guys who replaced my last windshield sprayed it on all my window and door seals because I told them the rubber was grabbing. It worked. YMMV

I think Porsche recommends Vaseline on door seals. Saves the stink of Silicone spray.

My Acura dealer recommended Silicone spray for the sunroof.

I put about 4 sheets of noise deadening mat inside each door. My car had been loud.

There was zero insulation in the doors from the factory.

Anyways... I insulated the doors. I got rid of a lot of road noise. I bet that if I had used a decibel meter, my result was significant. That said, I wish that I had never done it. Now the remaining road noise and wind buffeting seems worse because it seems isolated right near my left ear.

Shin Etsu silicone grease. It is available from Honda/Acura or on Amazon. Apply it sparingly.

Another vote for shin etsu grease. A tube will last you a lifetime.

I've used Wurth Rubber Care for decades, both in the spray and 'Gummi Pflege' gel stick versions. Has kept the decades old original weatherstripping on my vintage cars nice and pliable.

Whatever you use make sure it doesn't contain petroleum distillates. And use a gentle cleanser for cleaning.

Edit: Timely, I was installing new upper and lower headlight gaskets/seals on our 2001 BMW this afternoon and discovered my bottle of Wurth Gummi Pflege was nearly empty. I wanted to condition the new seals and the other weather stripping in the engine compartment so I ended up using some SuperLube silicone oil I have on hand. Worked great and a lot less messy than silicone sprays.



I also noticed when seaching for replacement Wurth Rubber Care, that they discontinued the old products and it seems that their new stuff is silicone free I might just stick with the silicone oil going forward.

Quick update. I stopped by to my local Porsche dealer. Service advisor got the detail guy to come sort this out. He came and then decided to get the shop foreman. Shop foreman is a really nice and knowledgeable guy. I guess he should be right. He said that Porsche makes a can of something for this but it’s expensive. He came back with 3M 08877. He applied a light layer on the car rubber seal. This quieted it a bit but it was still noticeable. I took a drive later and with the windows down the noise seems to be gone. The window must be gripping the rubber seal. I’m planning on going over the edges of the interior glass with water on a mf towel. The soap from the car bath might have not been fully absorbed and now is grippy. Then applying a light pass of the 3M silicone spray.

NAPA sells the 3M 08877. Today they had 25% off everything in the store. I was going to buy a bundle of cheap mf towels to use for something like applying silicone spray. The guy behind the counter said he had something better. He brought out a box of 50 blue towels, arranged like Kleenex in a 6x12 box. No tags and edgeless. I’ve never seen this. Great for onesy projects.

I wouldn't be surprised if Porsche rebrands the Wurth Rubber Care.
