Because he wants to generate traffic (and sales) on his site.

I knew that...I'm just too lazy to re-post something already residing on the web. At first I thought it was a joke - a 2'x4' piece of pegboard - please:wtf:! But then I saw that they charge $55.00 for it!!:shocking:
Anyways, I'm sure I was out before I posted that comment - I live in Canada!

And yet, they don't seem to participate much. Infact, all his posts are "hey guys, check out my website"... or some other sales schlock. He also claims to be a sponsor of this website... (true?)

Shouldn't this be moved to classifieds or something? It screams of getting traffic to their website rather then a real 'contest'.

Or maybe even banned?

We do sponsor this site and have our ad on the homepage. Sorry we don't participate much here. We're honestly too busy taking care of customer phone calls and emails and everything else that goes along with running a business.

Yes, metal pegboard is more expensive than you'd think. It's not exactly in high demand so there aren't a lot of competing manufacturers that can supply us.

We thought we'd try giving something away for free on the forums and test the response. We figured it'd be fun to take a look inside everyone's garage out there in Internet land, so we're just asking for you to take a couple digital photos and send them to us. In return, we'll pick out the best photo and send that person a free prize.

Sorry to see the negative posts to this, we were just trying to have some fun with the forum.

Best garage by what criteria? Most clean? most functional? I would think that the average joe garage or even the ugliest garage would benefit the most from the free pegboard...

Just my $0.20

OK - since I kinda hijacked this thread and your contest first, i feel kinda bad. First-off, I guess it was the over the top description ("a completely free 2' x 4' piece of pegboard shipped right to your house") that threw me and the erroneous "percieved value of a piece of pegboard. ("The winner will get a totally free piece of pegboard shipped to their door)" At first I thought "Pegboard"? - well that stuff is $2.00, not $50.00, not knowing the value of this stuff you sell.:headscrat
Secondly, while EVERYONE appreciates the sponsors of an awesome site, I think, since you are so "busy answering phones and running a business", you might not have asked yourself how the post might have read - by people that don't have your passion for the product.
So, my apologies - though I'm sure you don't need them as I'm sure many will send their pics!

Maybe someone who can best show off a spot where the pegboard will fit in their garage? Or someone with a picture showing they could really use some organization? We're going to have the whole office here vote on their favorite picture, this isn't all that formal, just an idea that came up at our last meeting. --- Be creative, we don't know what to expect either with this being the first time we're trying this.

Thanks for the support here. Glad to see people involved in the "hobby".
No disrespect meant, but does anyone hang things on pegboard any more. It seems like
its a thing of the past.

I have a full sheet of pegboard backing my workbench, and will probably use more as work progresses. I find it very useful, and inexpensive as a storage solution. What do you use besides pegboard to hang things?

Hey guys, just wanted to come on here and announce the garage we chose for this contest.

Congrats to Scott aka Wiregeek on here with his garage that seems to going in a good direction so far. Hopefully this makes one piece less to buy. Now here are some pics of the chosen garage.

Thanks for the contest! I cant believe I won with all of the great garages that everyone has on here. the funny thing about this place is that I joined a couple of years ago, but generally just lurked and saw all of these wonderful places. I knew I had to do something to clean up my mess. I didnt have to ask questions because all of the information is posted, if you just take the time to read (thats why only a couple of posts). I went with Epoxy-Coat floor and Ulti-Mate Garage Pro cabinets, but it cleaned out my bank account.
The pegboard addition will be great!

Thanks again!
Scott

Pegboard just seems kinda old timey, like in the 50s when guys would hang
box/open end wrenches and pliers etc, then trace around em with magic-markers.
Dont get me wrong I`m no hi-roller but tool boxes for me are a way more effecient manner of tool storage.
But Congrats to the winner, and thanks to the garage guy for giving em!

have to agree, pegboard...not for me, to me it just cluters up the wall....I got rid of mine about a year ago, keep tools in cabinets.

but have to say thanks to Garage Guy for trying to be active,

I never doubted that they are a sponsor, they are on the home page, I am sure it is not free

I stopped using pegboard back in 2001. Most everything is in partitioned drawers these days. Tools stay cleaner and are less likely to disappear. SD
