Car hoist lifting points?

So I finally got my dream Rotary lift. I've been using the flattest part of the frame to lift any trucks/cars. But I was watching a you tube vid

and you can see Paul at CJC using the body mounts to lift on. Does anyone else do this? The Dodge trucks he's working on are 8000lbs plus, and he does it all day long!
Looking at my Dodge mega cab I can see why he is using it, they are nicly spaced and accessible.

i put them on the flat part of frame and avoid extensions when ever i can

The extensions are made for trucks. If this is a new hoist some come with a lifting manual.

I too use as little extensions as possible but they are needed to clear running boards.

My manual does not say anything about where to lift on a vehicle. I would think this is car manufacturer specific. But i don't know where to find this info.
I assumed there would be lots of retired mechanics on here that would know.

I wouldn't trust "generic" lift points, my car at least has very specific points for lifting.
