car hoist question

Hi Guys, long time lurker.

I recently bought a SPOA98 car hoist. I got it all installed in the garage to find that the restraint system is broken. This particular design seems to be silly and time consuming and am looking at modifying the lower arm to accept the gear style latch that would disengage when it hit the floor.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Rotary was almost zero help.

This is a quick video of what im thinking of doing but on my hoist.

I got it from old shop in sterling heights, Mi.

got it for a great price but i really dont want to replace the factory arms. First they are 400 bucks and also they slow you down.

I am awful careful and do so at my own risk when modifying any design that is a listed piece of equipment.

i decided to go with the original equipment. I ordered the new set moments ago

Im hoping these are a little bit better. They arent much different than what i got with this hoist but I understand they are a much needed part.
