What does everyone use for their car maintenance scheduling? i found a free software called MyCar-monitor that will allow me to keep track of maintenance and costs of our cars / motorcycles.

i just started using it and though that i would ask to see what you guys use, if anything. I didnt want to commit to using this one until i had a decent idea of what its like.

let me know what you use?

I use aircraft logbooks as the format is very familiar to me.

Each vehicle gets a "next maintenance at" sticker on the top left corner of the windshield or on the speedometer in the case of bikes. Refer to the logbook for the necessary work.

All costs and receipts are noted in the logbook.

not to mention that im a Network engineer by trade so always gravitate toward something computer based.

I've used excel to build spreadsheets for maintenance logs, and receipts for work I've done for others...

I've started keeping my maintenance logs on my phone. I'm on a Motorola Droid phone and I just keep a text file for each of my vehicles. This phone is always with me so I know I'll be able to jot things down when I perform the maintenance.

I've been known to go through maintenance logs during office meetings, but you never heard that from me. ;)

What does everyone use for their car maintenance scheduling?

I created a database that includes my vehicles, service items, and the required service intervals. Once a month I run a report using the current vehicle mileage and the date to print out a maintenance due list. I don't use it to track costs, though.

Gary,

I use a program called AK Notepad on my Droid phone. From the attached picture, you can see some of the items I jot down on what I did for each particular job.

I number each job on the vehicle with the date, odometer reading, what was changed, oil, filter, etc. I also input my next anticipated oil change in terms of miles.

With this app, I'm able to name each text file with a unique title so that all I have to do is scroll down the phone to see which vehicle info I want to edit.

One of the main reasons why I keep it on my phone is that my phone is always with me. Also, I don't have to wait until I'm in front of a computer to input my data. Usually, while I'm running the car after an oil change, I'll input all the necessary data.

This program will also allow me to send this text file to myself as an email attachment in case I wanted to import it to Excel.

The one drawback I have with this app is that there's no search function. I basically have to scroll through the entire file to look for the item in question.

-Mike

Where can i get the stickers to put in the corner of the windows? Can't seem to find them around here

Dry erase marker on the window?
I'll sometimes write the mileage on the top side of the oil filter. On my truck and mustang its easy to see while you're underhood.

Pen and pad of paper for me. Keeps my keyboard clean. Sharpie marker in the upper left windshield. Rubbing alcohol takes it right off. Keeping it simple for my needs.

I use a simple Excel spreadsheet. I only have two daily drivers, so I don't need much. I like my vehicles clean, so no stickers or markers used here. I service every six months or so, and it is easy enough to schedule.

I use an Iphone app called Gas cubby. You enter ODO reading at each fillup and it tracks you MPG. Turn the phone sideways and you get all sorts of graphs. You can set maint items and intervals. Flags you when you enter a fillup if you are close to a maint item. I think it was $1.99. Plus you can export reports to email and excel. Love it!!!

I use a program called Auto3in1. It has both a PC and Windows Mobile version that sync up to each other. That way when I fill up the truck, I can input the info right there and just plug it into the computer later.

Yep, me too and I love this software :rocker:
.............have been using it for many years. You can have multiple vehicles and it is very stable. I tend to enter data on PC and it syncs to my phone so I always have data on call if needs be ( you can enter data directly into phone too if you like I just don't tend to)

My only problem has been that since I upgraded to Win7 and a WinMo6.5 phone, I haven't been able to get anything to sync anymore. I read the FAQ but must be missing something on it. It worked great for me when I still used XP.

I started off using it wth XP and my Dell Axim x51v. Then later upgraded to a HTC TouchPro2 and it worked fine. After Windows 7, nothing.
