These older heavy ramps appear to be the type that allows you to remove the angled part. They are listed as a 6 piece set. What are the extra 2 platforms for ?? Are they just part of a second set of ramps ?? --- John

While I am not an expert, my two cents would be that if they are the same height, the set up is to drive onto one set and then jack up the other end of the vehicle and lower it onto the other set.

If they are not the same height then you have one for low approach angle and one for high approach angle, but that seems unlikely from this photo.

An equal height setup is sometimes called ‘race stands’, as if you need to get under a vehicle quickly you save the jacking for just one side, normally rear ends have easier to locate jack points and with solid axles your compressing the suspension if you lift from the axle, so this saves a bunch of effort.

Could also be that it was 2x 4 piece sets and at one point someone lost a set of ramps

Just a useful anecdote:
I don't know why they might be advertised as 6-piece but I use similar ramps under the front wheels of my lawn tractor, for replacing the mower blades. The removable ramp section allows more room to work.

I have something like that ..I rarely used them cause I would need them in the garage and they are only good to slip on the concrete floor....plus most car bumper will hit before going up (need to make the ramp longer with wood)

Those extras look a lot like mine, they are 19" long and give an 11" lift, without the ramps.

Don't ask.
Appears to be 2 sets of stands. One set has ramps, the other doesn't. BTW I wouldn't pay much for them. $20 for all would be my limit if I really needed them.

I had these exact same ramps for decades! Right down to the worn out baby blue color! I loved them. But I had to go with lower profile ramps with longer approaches starting in 1994 due to the vehicles starting to be much lower to the ground as well as having more of the front valences sticking out farther from the front wheels.

I gave mine away to a friend who was starting to work on old farm equipment and older trucks. He tells me every time I see him that he loves the ramps, and especially because he can remove the approaches to make more space for him to move around on his creeper.

But to go back to the OP's question, I am in agreement with others who are saying that it appears to be two different sets of ramp parts, and not all from the same set.

I have a similar set. 6 piece.
The 6 pieces in my set are 2 ramps, 2 platforms & 2 wheel stops. The ramps hook into the platforms at one end & the stops hook onto the opposite end.
I think the second set of platforms might just be extra, not part of the 6 piece kit.
