It's after 9:00, auto parts stores are closed and I need carb cleaner for a weedwacker. Any thing that can be used as a substitute? I was thinking WD-40 but wont that leave a residue?

WD-40 is a solvent with a bit of oil in it. That's all it is. What I use to clean the chinese grease off HF tool purchases.

Most carb cleaners I've used seemed like a mix of Acetone and Lacquer thinner... I've used the later as such for many years now...

I have a friend that swears by Pine-Sol. He claims it will not damage rubber or soft parts.
I have not tried it yet
