I'll pass. Weight has never been an issue with any wrench to me. In fact they feel better with a little weight in your hand I think.

Yeah I think a little weight might give you a little advantage. They are pricey
too, but I can see where Motorcyclists would benefit from carrying these. They could actually carry more tools unless the Carbon Fiber tools are so thick they take up more room. Any weight savings on a bike is a good thing.

I wonder how the carbon fiber is adhered to the steel strong enough to keep it from breaking away from the fiber ?

This is from the website's FAQ:

Q: Do I need to wear gloves using the wrenches?
A: We recommend using gloves as there is a small possibility the carbon fiber can leave splinters in your hand if the carbon fiber is damaged. The possibility of splinters from the carbon fiber wrench is about the same as with a wood handle on a shovel or hammer.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. This is a gimmick and falls under the same category as those ****** keychain multi-tools made of "aerospace titanium or stainless" steel".

That was my first thought too , after more thinking... my motorcycle oem toolbag is good enough ... actually never needed it , the weight saving is not that big, for a street bike it really doesn't matter and with a race bike you have tools in the truck/padock so... meh

I cannot say that I am not impressed. They look very cool. I'm always up for new technology. I hope they can apply this new technique of making tools to something more benificial. Maybe a carbon fiber breaker bar?

I think this is an solution to a problem that never existed. At the end of the day, you don't hear anybody saying they wish they had some lighter wrenches. They create other problems too, being a lot bulkier, and will seriously injure your hand if they break.

I'm sure there is a niche market, somewhere. But it's not for 90% of the wrench spinners out there.

If CF is so strong why the steel inserts?

Pass.

Mainly because the carbon fiber would wear when used on a steel fastener.

I agree with all of you. These might be useful on special aviation or space vehicles though where a dropped wrench could cause serious damage

I think this would be useful to anybody to has had to carry a heavy handheld toolbox. I used to do side jobs working on boats and I had to carry about a 60 lb box a quarter mile some times to get out to the boats that I had to work on. You couldn't get a rolling box either as they didn't work well for the situation. Man would my hand hurt after carrying that box.

I don't think these CF wrenches are perfect by any means but I can see that they would definitely help a lot of people who aren't next to a large toolbox when doing their work. They are the start of a new technology that may work for a lot of people. Hopefully they can fix the splintering issue but I've never gotten a splinter from a wooden handled tool. It would just really **** to have a Carbon Fiber splinter.

What would be cool is carbon fiber sockets.

They have a video on their site thats sorta impressive. They lift an ATV with a forklift and use the wrench as a connecting spot....

its impressive they didnt re-shoot the video because their logo fell off the front of the ATV on to the ground. Gave me a chuckle

I'd be more impressed if they mounted the wrench horizontally and used the center as the attachment point, as that would come closer to putting stress on the wrench in the manner in which they are used.

Either way, as someone said above, it is a solution to a nonexistent problem. :dunno:

I could see this being popular with the aviation crowd. I carry a toolkit in my Sonex airplane when traveling long distances. A little weight behind the seat really does make a difference in center of gravity. A full set of wrenches aren't light. For every day use around the house and on the cars forget it, not worth the money.

I can see the benefit of these.... if you launch them into space and you need to save every ounce.

There is another company that makes them as well. They are the OEM tool kit for one of the exotic manufactures.

@$135 for one set or $199 for two they are on par with Snappy in price. I can see a market, though probably not a huge one.

Not for me. They just wouldn't provide the same satisfying clanging noise when I fling a wrench across the room in a fit of rage.

Don't do that. The Tool Gods don't like it, and will punish you more in the future.

To reduce stress, drink Jameson Irish Whiskey, none of that nasty peat taste which is really just like the insoles of hippie sandals.:willy_nil
