Hi there… firstofall thankyou for adding me in this group. I am heavy duty mechanic apprentice in my first year. I am in this field for almost 3 years. Started as shop labourer. I am looking for field change . I love to work on machines but i dont like trouble shooting it. Instead of that i like of understanding the function of different parts used in different machines. I like to know about different technologies. I am looking to go in parts as a parts technician. Any one here can guide me on this . I am so confused right now. Please help

For the money aspect, I would stick with HD mechanic vs partsman. Steer toward vendor/mfr support. The difference being the customer often has their own people to look after the day-to-day, light repairs, and troubleshooting. Being further up the 'foodchain' so-to-speak, its bigger fixes and a more prescriptive/procedural approach.
