For a number of years I have lurked on this site gaining many great ideas for my dream toy garage. While I did not take any progress pictures I wanted to share pictures of the finished toy garage.

I started out designing the garage of my dreams. It quickly turned out to over 15,000 SF which would include storage for my cars, trucks, trailers, motor home, etc. When the cost came in I quickly decided this was not a smart thing to do.

I own several multi tenant office warehouse buildings and happened to lose a tenant in a 3,000 SF space last winter. I looked at this space and decided it would be perfect! I cannot store anything there except for my cars, but that is OK since I have nearby storage for them. I especially liked that it would force me to keep under my control my disease of buying classic cars due to its size.

Some of the things on my wish list:
A. I am retired and need a place to go every day and play.
B. I do very little work on the cars other than light detailing, etc. so I did not need a heavy duty mechanical shop. My cars are all trailer queens and I enjoy regional and national competition and keep myself busy throughout the year going to the meets.
C. My hobby had become very disorganized. I wanted a dedicated parts and storage room **** neat storage for all of my other car maintenance items.
D. Over the years I have accumulated some memorabilia plus other memories that I wanted to display.
E. I did not want my toy garage to look like the Cracker Barrel. I wanted it to look like a Chevrolet showroom.

The suite is 30x100. We started by totally gutting the space. We developed a set of plans which are attached. The hardest part was adding a second floor for the storage room and a second overhead 12'x14' overhead door for access.

I spent substantial time on the electrical plan. I did want to see cords if at all possible. This required adding floor outlets under all cars, planning closely where neon lights would be, etc. We installed the latest T5 technology throughout. This included switches that allow me to dim the flourescents.

I am a novice at adding files so I will post pictures on sucessive posts.

This looks really cool. Nice job on the office space. We need more pictures of the garage area. I'm really interested in your Corvette that's partially visible through the door to the shop.

Hold the phones.....is that a Mustang I see on the wall? Looks like it might be an old Boss 302.

So what's the deal with that?

Yes it is a Boss 302. All of the pictures on the walls are cars that I have owned and sold at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale over the years.

The Boss is one of the cars I regret selling. I had earned MCA Concours gold in their trailered restored division. I have searched for several years and have yet to find one that compares.

Special thanks goes to Baldhead Cabinets, Race Deck, Envirobrite and Lipgnosis.

I am very pleased with the help with the cabinet design, quality and service that Baldhead offered. Also, after having Racedeck on the floor of my last 4 garages I could not imagine putting it in my toy garage. Envirobrite helped me with the lighting plan and provided the latest in technology.

Lipgnosis provides cutting edge graphic design. They were an immense help with the graphics displayed.

Very nice, I really like the Chevy Showroom motif and playland.

Even if you don't do much resto work, I can imagine how much time and effort it takes to move the cars in and out of events.

I think only Leno can manage to do it all, he's definitely THE Garage King.

Are you planning on selling anything soon or adding of course?

Thanks for sharing,

Paul

This is one of my favorite garages ever... non working ones anyway. I like it even better than some of the fancier ones because I like how its somewhat compact for the amount of cars it holds etc.

Whats the suburban like thing?

The pickup is a 65. It has the Custom Camper option which is unusual. It has factory a/c which is even more rare. What sets it apart though is the factory 409 engine with 3 on the tree. Find another one! It scored 1000 out of 1000 at the Vintage Chevrolet Association National Meet. Earned the Gold Concourse award at the Muscle Car Nationals and Platinum 996 out of 1000 at the Classic Chevy Winternationals. Has been featured in numerous magazine articles.

The Nash is a 52 Aeroflite wagon. It is my wife's special driver.

I am getting ready to start construction on a 70'x70' warehouse behind my toy garage. It will have two 24' wide by 14' tall insulated roll up doors on the front and one 20'x14' on the side. It is designed to hold my motorhome, trucks, trailers, and have some shop space. It will have an 18 foot tall eave height. There will be a 15'x30' mezanine for storage. Any suggestions on best lighting for this application?

Thanks
