Carhartt Jackets

I purchased one of the newer polyester jackets and they ****. Never do loosen up. So stiff when cold you could stand it up in the corner.

I went and purchased another of the cotton duck jackets and like it just fine.

I picked this up at Bass Pro back in August on clearance for $15 and have been wearing it mainly over whatever else Im wearing. Maybe not meant exactly as a jacket but it works well as one. I also have a carhartt coat for when the temperature gets much colder but this has been fine so far with the temperature occasionally getting into the mid 30's early in the morning.
The color I got doesn't seem to be available anymore, I guess that's why its on clearance but it was a light brown dark tan kind of color. Between the khaki and the brown on the website pretty much.

Filson makes a nice product. I still have my carhartts though. I like the usa ones and mexico ones arent too bad.

Got many of the mid weight hoodies too that I️ probably have about 10 years on other than being stained by oil and grease I️ think maybe 1 has a small rip on the arm

I know this has been discussed but I just wanted to say I bought this new "full swing" carhartt jacket and it's the most comfortable heavy work jacket ever. I have always wore dickies jackets because I hated the "stiff" and puffy look of traditional carhartt jackets. Especially since I'm a thinner guy.

I always wear Gildan Hammer Adult 9 oz. Fleece Full-Zip Jacket Style #HF700 because Gildan is my favorite brand as usual & Gildan also provides best quality stuff after wearing this jacket I'm feeling very comfortable and warm So, I also recommend to all of you for one time wearing this jacket and share your experience that how was your feeling after wearing this jacket.

Working on the deck of Great Lakes freighters will give you an education on foul weather gear very quickly. Wind and water on a regular basis. Coming from a carpentry background, I was pretty well geared up with Carhartt coat and bibs. A lot of sailors prefer coveralls. It was interesting to see the different types of gear the guys would use. Carhartt is the most common but Great Lakes sailors invest heavily in cold/wet weather gear. Some of them spend huge money on it and the job destroys clothes. But try working a season on deck without good cold weather gear or rain gear and you'll soon come to understand that cheaping out on proper clothing was a big mistake. You don't get to stop at the store on your way home from work.

Carhartt used to be the best, but when you see them showing up with Carhartt brand stores on main street and in outlet malls, featuring fashion gear, it's over. Their quality is no where near what it was back in the work clothes day. I found out the hard way when I was in a North Forty farm store, saw some Carhartt jeans on sale, so without trying them on, bought two pair just based on what I thought I knew about their quality. First of all, my bad, as I discovered they were cut 'fashionably snug' rather than loose like work jeans should be. No way one could do work in them which involves squatting; I'm not a porky puppy, but within a few washings, the seat split at the same place in both, just above the back pocket rivet.

Bottom line - the shredders/slashers/fanboys/fashionista can have the new Carhartt brand. I've moved on.

Kinda like Osh Kosh. Back in the day they were a go to brand for bib overalls and blue cotton work shirts. Those shirts were fantastic. They'd just keep getting softer with age. Wish I had a dollar for everyone one of those I wore out. Now look at Osh Kosh...children's clothes only! WTH?

I haven't seen much of a drop in quality myself. I bought 5 pairs of duck bibs from Zoro a while back, all double knee. 3 were US and 2 were Mexico and I can't tell the difference unless I check the tags. Same with the jeans.
