I am pouring my slab this week for my shop and concidering putting a couple runs of the Carlon (or similar) conduit in the slab. From my box to the different areas of the shop. Was curious about opinions on this vs just running mc cable after its all built. I can't imagine there is a cost savings.

My building is 20x45 with 12x45 lean to on each side.

Thanks. Mike.

I have a couple of sidewalks and small slabs with plastic conduits embedded in them; it seemed liks a good idea at the time and if and when needed for future growth they will come in handy.

It'll be good if you're going to a point mid-floor, and intend to have a permanent appliance there. If you're going diagonally, it'll save you a bit on wire, but just to that point. If you're setting sub panels in specific points, it might pay. Remember that planting conduits does not have the adjustability of just running wire in the walls and ceiling.

Was thinking I would run the 50amp In them to across the shop, rather than going up and over the 14ft door.

Place the conduit "under" the slab and turn up the ends where you want them. Putting the conduit "in the slab" weakens the slab unless your slab is very thick (>>>4").
