Im looking into buying the metric set this weekend. Im torn between these and the gearwrencg long panel wrenches. Does anybody have the carlyle non slip wrenches on gj would you guys reccomend them. I see they have the groves on the insides of the open end like some of the more expensive wrenches. Looking to spend $100 or less on a nice set of long wrenches as i need them but am already over my tool budget for a while.

I've got a set. They are pretty nice for the price. I'd buy them over the GearWrench but that's just me.

I have a set. They have teeth on the open end plus, have a v throat design. They also have off corner engagement on the boxed end and are long pattern. The beams aren't as thick as Williams.
I picked up the 9-19mm set new for like $33 shipped on ebay. Warranty is easier with the local NAPA if ever needed.

I also use them. Paid 60 for them new 9 to 19mm. I also bought the 7mm and 8mm. They feel nice in your hand. I'd buy them again. They go on sale often so check the napa flier.

The v design as far as I can tell is not really a feature other than it looks cool. You won't get much if any torque applied to the bolt from them. People will state that they are a stress concentration point in the design but the tip of the v has a decent radius so I don't really think the v weakens the wrench either. I see it as just extra material in the wrench head.

Was thinking the same they look a little better than the gw although i am a big fan of gw tools. How do the non slip open ends bite? Do they grip like crazy? :)

I have a set of Sae and Metric and I can't see that they bite at all, at least no where near the wright grip or flank drive plus, there is a radius in each corner which is supposed to allow it to rotate. I'll give them this.. The open end looks mean as hell.

Yeah I don't think they really bite. They seem pretty strong,as in they won't spread and slip. Unfortunately not 3 weeks after I bought these I got a deal on a set of Snap on flank drive plus wrenches so these were kind of shoved to the back of the drawer. They aren't uncomfortable to use, although I don't think the Snap on's are either... (Some people complain about them). My biggest reason on buying the Carlyle's were the sale price, and also a large open stock selection to add on to the set as needed. I've got no local source on the GW wrenches.

Any updates on how you guys are liking these? Good bang for the buck still?

Got a chance to really use them today changing stuts in my girfriends car. Im liking them more and more. They are not the best wrenches ever but for that price range they are the best bang for the buck hands down imho. They feel good in the hand grip well and have yet
To slip on me i would highly reccomend them.

I like all of my carlyle tools including the long pattern, no slip wrench sets I have. The open end does seem to grip tighter and fit better than any other brand of wrench I have in my box. I recently warrantied a Carlyle 3/4" socket at my local napa and the exchange process was seamless. If you can get a good enough deal on the Carlyle wrenches go for it!

I just bought the cw613m set "on sale" for $96. Its a metric 6 point wrench set. 13 piece. At first glance I also put them above gear wrench as far as the chrome and general over all feel. Although I have got use them yet. I also have the gear wrench long pattern wrenches that I use a good bit. For ease of warranty I'm going to try and make Carlyle my go brand. Because you never know. Although for the price, it'd be a toss up between the two. Cant go wrong with eaither one really.
