I wasn't able to find anything on Carlyle tool boxes with the search function, so here goes.

I had a look at the current Real Deals Catalog. To my surprise, new Carlyle boxes were available and this was on the Canadian version of the catalog. The prices don't look that bad considering the higher than average drawer depth.

Has anyone had a chance to play with one of these boxes or own one? If so, what are your thoughts?

Page 29 of the Canadian Real Deals Flyer has 41" and 54" cabinets that are 24" deep and page 30 has Carlyle Platinum cabinets that are 60" and 72" wide by 30" deep

I guess we are wondering if these are a special Canadian thing or are the boxes available in the US also?

I'm just looking for more information on these boxes. This is the first time I've seen Napa Canada sell a Carlyle branded product. I was hoping GJ members in the US already know more about the boxes as they are Carlyle branded. They seem like a viable option in Canada for people who don't want one of the following options:

1. A big box store box (drawer depth)
2. A new tool truck box (cost)
3. A used tool truck box (time consuming to find a dirt cheap one)
4. US only options like Harbor Freight US General gen 2 (hassle to haul back)

I would bet they are Homak boxes. From what I've gathered reading here, the higher end ones are decent. No direct experience myself other then a full drawer cart I had (traded it up for a different one). No real issues with it.

Last I knew the Napa flyers here were still listing boxes as Homak in the flyers.

I actually think you Canadians are seeing those Carlyle boxes before we in the USA are. The only Carlyle branded tool storage items i found in the current real deals flyer are totes, backpacks, and tool organizers. Now there are several Homak boxes in the flyer but, they're branded Homak not Carlyle. :dunno:

Hey I bought the carlyle platinum tool chest about six months ago. It works great. The top drawer is tall enough for the bigger sockets to fit standing up which is a lot better than my previous husky toolbox . the drawer slides are built very strong and hold alot of weight . I believe they are rated about 270 pounds per pair . The top drawer has a total of four slides so on paper will hold close to 600 pounds ! Mechanically I have no issues with it although there was a defect in the paint when I got it and the long skinny drawer that holds my wrenches was a bit flimsy . Carlyle went good and warranties the box and I noticed that the new box had reinforced drawers. All in all I think it is a great box and close to snap on quality for a quarter of the price ! ( snap on guys will disagree of course ) I'd recommend this toolbox to anyone who wants a study toolbox for daily use and don't want to pay 20000 dollars ! I just made this account today to leave a bit of a review on the toolbox . When I was looking at it six months ago there were absolutely no reviews online and there still isn't much .

It's Genuine Parts Company. The company owned stores also operate as Genuine Parts while the franchise stores operate under various other names.

The box on the right is clearly a rebaged Homak RS Pro and that's not a bad thing. Nice boxes for the money.

I'm thinking they are rebadged homaks but they are way cheaper than the homaks in the states so not sure. Could be just one of those things where they are just getting started then they will go up. They look the same and have the same specs according to the homak website. 72 hxl pro combo. $8482.00 US for both and the napa canada for both is $5400 CAD which is $4000 US which seems along way off for the same tool box . CSE B7230RD is the napa canada part number for the bottom. Can't post link or pic as I am a new member

Only difference I can find is that the homak have 1300 lb casters and the Carlyle list 900 lb casters. Homak only lists them as a unit but Napa Canada will sell the Carlyle top and bottoms separate.

Sorry for so many extras but guess I ll get my post count up. But in the comparison chart says 5400 lb for the six casters. So the 1300 lb listed on its other page prob incorrect. As that would make the two tool boxes identical

Have owned my Carlyle for a few months now, and am pretty happy with it. Compared to the run of the mill Husky, Mastercraft, Craftsman, Milwaukee options (I tested a lot of these before buying) it's a step up. This has thicker steel, more drawers and in general I can feel better quality in all aspects than any of those ones I tried. The biggest factor for me though was that the Carlyle was 24" deep and that is just a much better form factor for me.

You can find the video through the link in my signature if you want more info. Pretty certain Homak and Carlyle are the same with very minor differences at most. Same colour options, same specs, same number of drawers, etc.
