carpenters advice needed: cabinet hinge help

I pulled the doors off of my kitchen cabinets and I replaced the hinges. Now, when I put the doors back on I put one on and then I put the second one using shims to make a slight gap in the doors. But, when I tighten the hinge screws down into the cabinet itself, the doors go crooked and hit. I used the same holes for the cabinet screws and I think that is part of my problem. So I have drilled out a few holes and put dowel rod inserts into them, hoping this fixes the issue. Is there anything else I can try or any suggestions people may have?
Thanks,

Bob

Most european style hinges have adjusting screws to help align the gap reveals.
there is also adjustment for how far they stick out from the cabinet.

There should be instructions with the hinges.

If you're shimming the hinges because of the door thickness then you need to by the right size / type hinge...

If you just replaced the hinges with exactly the same style, hole locations etc. and you are having alignment problems then I'm guessing that you didn't number or label the doors so they could be returned to their original locations...

Like it's been said pics man... pics...

You are using different hinges than you had. You need to buy exactly the same hinge.

HotrodHR has it, you mixed up all of the doors or you are using a different back space.

You mixed the doors up probably. Also you can "tweak" those hinges by grabbing the door and tweaking on it to slightly bend the hinge. There are no internal adjustments on those hinges. Next time just cram a toothpick in the oversized hole. You don't have to pack it completely tight or you'll be pre-drilling the holes. I do it all the time on door hinges and strike plates.
