On saterday we put carpet down on the floor in the every day car garage yes jappers you have to hide them:lol_hitti The carpet is second hand from a gym so the only cost was the glue .The carpet is a marine industerial grade so you can wash it and it dosn't rot and go moldy. Here are some photos more on the barn in Our dream posts.

I think it's looks good...keep us updated on how it holds up. It being in your "everyday" garage should be a good test.

Liquids will probably wash out, but the nap can probably still stain.

It will be interesting to see photos one year from now. IMO ... I can not see any bonus for having carpet in the garage, except that it was free :)

and if you drop a wrench, it will bounce instead of tinging.

I've had the same piece of carpet in my garage for over 10 years and I'm just now planning on getting rid of it. I've been parking my daily driver and Big Olds on it all this time. I do shop vac it once in a while but have never washed it. Besides a few oil stains I think it's held up surprisingly well. Since my garage is not heated the carpet really does make it alot nicer to lay or kneel on.

I also noticed that the garage is used as a utility room so carpet will make the floors warmer (as well as softer for knees and tools).

That is the way I had part of my garage, the office carpet held perty good for over 6 years, just finaly had it removed and it was not bad looking on the underside.
I have to add, the car that was parked there did not have oil leaks, just a few spots of A/C condensation and rain water stains.
All in all not bad in my book.

carpet would be a FIRE hazard in mine... welding.. grinding... metal chopsaw
then theres the sawdust you have to clean up.. cant sweep carpet

add to that changing transmissions... brakejobs hydrolics

ya know stuff thats fixed in a garage shop

and to add to all that trucks weighing in excess of 15,000 pounds

ever try and roll a toolcart with 200# pounds of tools on it over carpet?
