The house my wife and I bought this summer has very nice white carpet. The previous owners appear to have not ever had the carpets cleaned nor vacuumed well. We had the carpet professionally cleaned shortly after moving in but shortly thereafter the stains wicked right back. The backing and/or padding must be horribly filthy because if we even get a drop of water on it, in a couple days there is a dark brown dot.
So, if I pull all the carpet up and replace all the padding and have it relayed and then recleaned will that take care of the issue? I know there are some tricks to having the carpet cleaned that will dry the carpet quickly and prevent it from wicking but with kids in the house, there are always going to be wet footprints and small spills we need to clean up so the stains will come back when that happens.
