I'm currently finishing the interior of my new 24x24 shop. It will be primarily used as a hobby wood working shop.

I got enough carpet floor tiles from work for free to cover the entire shop. This is low ply carpet, commercial grade.

I was thinking it would be good to install because it will keep it warmer in winter (I'm in North Dakota), easier on the feet and legs, it will help keep saw dust down by holding onto it instead of blowing all over the concrete floors. I will get a nice vacuum to clean it weekly.

Anyone do this in there garage? Pros/cons?

I bet it will work well and will be a lot more comfortable than a hard surface.

David Picciutto, "Make Something" on you tube, had a studio woodshop that he did carpet in for the same reason and has talked about keeping it clean isn't a problem in a couple videos. If you have a good vacuum, you should be fine

Ya, I got the idea from Stumpy Nubs who referenced David.

Free is the right price. Easy to install, easy to remove. Can get a cheap vacuum and it should work out well.

You will never get the sawdust completely out of it, so as long as you are fine with that and don't want/need it to clean up perfect then it would be a great floor. It will vacuum up pretty good and look pretty good unless you are on your hands and knees. I would do it if I was getting it for free!
