Carport Roof Material Help

Can anyone help me identify what roofing material this is? I had a GC working in the neighborhood tell me it was called "standing v groove" but I haven't been able to find anything about that online.

In case it isnt clear from the pictures, the roof of the carport appears to be an aluminum material that looks like two pieces of gutter comprising one piece. Each section of material overlaps and is combined to create the roof. I am hoping to convert the carport to two cars and would love to be able to just buy half the material.

Try starting with some local carport builders. We use a lot of metal roofing and I could not find anything similar. It may be an obsolete profile. Your only option my be to reroof the whole thing after you rebuild it.

Thanks all. Looks like things may get a bit more expensive. As they tend to do I suppose.

That looks like std patio cover or screen room type roof material. It also seems that whoever built your car port recycled some materials to build it.

I will be watching this thread for an answer. I looked and could not find it either. I just built a carport and used standard r panels. What you have shown is a lot stronger and much preferred.

The GC working across the street seemed to think he knew what it was and even said there was a place just outside Atlanta that manufactures it. Looks like I might have to give him a call.

Around here it's used on trailer porch roofs almost exclusively . It's made to span longer distances than your standard metal roofs.

I've seen that roofing on some 40+ year old carports they were made from aluminum. Also looking at your metal trusses I would guess early 60's when aluminum as real popular. Try putting a magnet to it to see if it is aluminum or not. If it is aluminum it may be worth more that the steel needed to build a two car. Right now aluminum is $0.82 / lbs.

That a awning pan.
Looks like 3 inch x 12 inch
Measure from the top lip to the bottom.
They make a lot of different profiles.
There is a local supplier in az that makes one that matches yours
they come in different guages depending on the span

Reviving the thread. Got a quote today for $14k to redo the roof on this tiny carport. Am I insane to think this should be a $5k job max?

Way to high. There are plenty of roof companies in ATL, you need to call a few out and get quotes.

Are you keeping the truss'?

In your OP you stated you wanted to expand the one bay to two bay and keep the existing panels. So is the current quote to tear off and replace only the existing square footage or add on and expand to two bay also?

That seems very high but we don't have all the specifics. Are they going to add additional aluminum structure to expand the carport? Do the existing trusses stay or get replaced with new aluminum extrusions? Do some of these supports need their own new footings or do they just wedge anchor to the existing paving?

The material you have is a "W-pan" patio cover.

A variety of companies roll form this material from coiled aluminum (it doesn't look like an extrusion). You can still buy it if you can find the place that produced it, it looks like a standard profile.

The current plan is to scrap the existing roofing material and the wrought iron truss system to be replaced with a new wood support structure and new metal roofing. I've now found a few patio roofing companies that stock the W-pan. Hopefully that will solve my problems.
