Looks as if it is in a lovely location! Anxious to see more as the work progesses.

Suggestion ... add your location to your profile ... it's fun to know were folks are and helps if you ask a question ... for instance, a response to an insulation question will be different if you are in AZ vs. OH.

Thats a awesome looking Carriage House ... but one question always haunts me ... dosent burying wood posts in the ground shorten he life span of this structure ... wouldn't a traditional foundation make for a better bldg long term...whats the advantages of a post style bldg?

That's actually the cool part about it. It's hard to tell but there concrete with steel the wood post bolts to it 4 feet up

Very good idea ... so the advantage is no foundation cost .... I was told also something about the classification of the structure vs. taxes ? Is it assessment less which means less taxes ?

Very nice. I'll be looking into this sort of thing for myself. Do you mind me asking for a ballpark figure on cost with the contractor? You must be saving $10k or so with no foundation...

Thanks!

Im not to sure about the taxes, but it was assessed just like a normal house. The cost of it all with leveling, excavation, septic, well, and everything eles for around 170,000

NICE!! Gonna look real sweet with the stonework, hell i'd just build a big deck off the back.. more covered parking underneath, and i'd be home!! Is the house going be a similar design? Going to be a beautiful place to call home. thanks for sharing..
