Carrier Multi-Zone Damper issue

We took an indirect hit from a lightning strike last week - 10 feet from the house (a tree was hit), and the A/C has not functioned correctly since.
An HVAC contractor (whom installed this system 5 years ago) was hired to check it out, and they tested everything and gave it a clean bill of health.
80s inside with the system running all day tells me something is wrong.

I went into the attic just now and noticed both dampers were closed while the system was running. This caused the ductwork on the top of the inside unit to blow out and I taped it up with foil tape. I manually opened the dampers for the downstairs zone and it seems to be blowing much better, but not as strong as it used to. The damper (picutred) was making a loud buzzing noise when powered, but not moving.

How do I test the dampers, to determine if they're working or if the control board is shot?

That's the Carrier infinity zone controls -- do you have the infinity thermostat ? And the smaller one ?

It has a service spot on the control -- go to service in the menu and hold your finger on the spot for 5 seconds.

The system can do a self test ..... but, you should be able to open and close the dampers just by changing the temps ?

If it was properly registered it will have a 10 year parts warranty.

The damper on a full infinity system will modulate

Thank you, I don't have an infinity thermostat - just a Honeywell standard digital programmable one.

A/C company came out today and confirmed both motors are "fried", after I told them what I had observed and they tested it.
$650 to replace both of them.
Supposed to do it on Friday.
I found one motor for $60 online and the other is $200.
I might just do it myself.

They did offer a refund of the service visit on Friday where they missed the problem.

I know its after the fact, but installing a whole house surge protector might prevent this from happening in the future. With the adoption of the 2020 NEC, the are required on all new electrical services and service upgrades.
