hey guy's i'm think about upgrading my service cart i would like alot more space. so here's the thing i work in an dealership on a team we have built in box's but since i'm the new guy all they other guy's have all there stuff already setup. so depending on the day i could work in any of the 5 bay's that are assigned to our team. i keep some of my tool's in another tech's box for now as my HF 4 drawer cart can only fit so much, granted i can do 95% of my job out of the cart as is but with a big shipment of new tools comming in soon i think its almost time to up grade in some way shape or form. these are my options as i see them.

1. keep the 4 drawer cart and buy another one to do a double cart mod like seen in the modified hf thread, for those that dont know you get two 4 drawer carts and put one in the lower section of the cart. along with this i thought about maybe adding the 7 drawer side cab. i would remove my side self and this would be about the same size width wise

2. grab a red five drawer cart from hf and doo the 7 drawer side cab mod to it..... this would be nice so i could keep the lower section where i currently keep rag's, gloves, coolant, and a deadblow for knocking off wheels.

3. go with a HF44 this would take up about the same amount of space as my current cart with a side shelf but it would be kinda wierd for me to adjust to sense i can usually just grab right out the top of my cart and get to work.

4. grab up a krsc46.... big snap on tool cart for those that don't know.... i'm still in school and could pick one of these up for around 900 after tax.

anyway's that's where i'm stuck at for them moment let me know what you guy's think and what route you would go or throw something else into the mix.

I'd go with the 44 inch box.

You can keep your most used tools in your cart and the rest of the stuff in the box.

Hell for the cost of the snap on cart alone you could buy a full HF 44 set (bottom, top, and side locker for your cased tool sets) and be far ahead of the game.

Don't fall for the Snap On 18%+ APR credit rate...

It's going to come down to your preference of flip top vs work surface. Although the HF is a great bargin, I'm not sure how well it would hold up long term to being rolled around all day every day, especially if floor isn't very smooth. IF you go with the HF and you plan on moving it around alot, you might want to consider sprung or pneumatic casters. Possibly a small chassis for it to sit in. It's a great value but the frame just doesn't have the torsional ridgidity to put up with being flexed constantly.

$900 for a KRSC46? That's the way I'd go.... Unless I thought a 326 would be big enough...

Hey,

Per your last statement let me throw this in the mix http://www.stanleyvidmar.com/sites/www.stanleyvidmar.com/files/flipbooks/product-catalog/index.html now yes I understand your a student and money is an issue. While snap on makes a fine product even snap on boxes will break down with lots of movement and stability while on the move can be an issue. Even if loaded correctly I have seen 2 boxes at different places tip over ( bad driving LOL) but they did tip one caught a wheel in a floor drain and the other a drop off in the concrete floor around a power shear neither was pretty. In the industrial world Stanley Vidmar or even Lista http://www.listacabinets.com/mobile-storage-cabinets.html can provide a fully custom drawer setup etc and I can attest to will with stand the abuse of a military guy for more then 20 years. I have seen others shops here with both in them so ask straight out about them. I prefer the construction method of Stanley Vidmar . As for pricing yeah they are pricey but you can get them on eBay and or go to the nearest place that does military recycling sales gov auctions etc see what is around.

The grey and the blue cabinets are Stanley Vidmar

Different configs as you can see.

Excuse the mess I was in the process of working on several things rehabbing the drill press and such
