A few chainsaw carved pumpkins they sell year round but this time of year I ramp up production. Burning with a torch and texturing with a wire wheel gives a nice raised grain effect. This technique I use on rustic signs.

That's absolutely ridiculous! I've never seen pumpkins carved like that before, very impressed with your talents. Do you have to dry them out, or does that happen when you hit them with the torch, or are they sealed somehow?

yeah, I realized that after my post, still very impressive carving, especially to a non-woodworker like myself.

Found this thread while searching for bird houses. Awesome work!
Old post but deserves a bump. BTW -- Bird houses are in the second from last picture and a video about carving one near the middle of the thread.
brianh -- is the display in the second from last picture a trailer in disguise? If so, very clever. Love your work.

Yes it is a trailer I built it for our shows, a white vending tent does not fit for displaying what I make.
Most shows are happy to have the trailer. It has pull out solar panels on top deep cycle marine batteries and a 1000 watt inverter to run a few small tools when I do demonstrations, I only do that at a few its a lot more work and stuff to bring. I made geared latches for the tailgate and the front storage box.

I saw the mechanism on the front of the display in your earlier post but didn't realize that it was the latch. Brilliant! Fits right in with the rest of your work. Thanks for sharing.
