Hi. I bought a tap set awhile ago. A somewhat bicycle specific assortment of metric Vermont american taps & dies. All I have is the carded blister pack taps and dies.

Any ides for a case or pouch to put them it? I was thinking about trying to make a little wooden case or maybe just something with pick & pluck foam. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

you can get a block of wood and drill holes to holt the taps upright

you can buy a cheap tap set that is incomplete (for cheap) and fill it up

A couple of ideas:

The other I cannot post as too big in bitmap form and loses everything when resized. PM me if you want it.

I ordered this empty plastic case from a MAC dealer years ago. I put a smaller set in the case, and then gradually added individual taps and dies until I had a full set.

I used a Plano StowAway #3700 drawer style box and works very well you should be able to find it at Wal Mart in the sporting goods section in the fishing supplys you can make from 4-24 compartments and comes with the dividers to do so I also made a diagram of the sizes and which compartment laminated it and layed it inside

I bought my tap & die set boxes from Snap-on. They work well and are reasonably priced. It is P/N TDM117-1 for the metric case, and TD2425-1 for the inch size. I like these cases because they are more compact than the blow molded boxes.

Nice, that snap on one is the ticket. I still really want to make one out of wood but I don't own a router or much else for woodworking.

I do have a bunch of really nice scrap hardwood though...
