As with most I have been a Garage Journal member for a number of years (~8 I believe) and have amassed numerous ideas along the way. Many of these ideas have been fully planned waiting on implementation and now is the time. I finally sourced a builder after realizing I did not have the time to complete the project myself and will be breaking ground on my garage on Tuesday (9/6/2016).
Original plans were for a 40'x40'x12' with full attic trusses and a 40'x12' porch/lean-to along one side. As with most things funds were an issue and I wanted a building that fit with the size of my house and lot. So after talking with my builder I down sized to a 32'x32'x12' with 6/12 storage trusses and a full 12'x32' porch. Part of the porch will be a 12'x12' enclosed room that will be used as a night shift sleeping area/office for me as I work a rotating shift and have three young kids. Not a very conducive environment for sleeping to say the least. I have attached the Sketchup renderings to give an idea of my plan.
I have much more planned but will update here as those come to fruition. As far as budget I have $40K allocated to get the building dried in, get the main electrical installed, and hopefully get the night shift room functional. I will try to keep everyone updated on how the budget is holding up.
More to come.....
