Casters for Dollies

I am making some large caster furniture dollies so I can put them under furniture and move it across grass. I was planning to use 8" pneumatic swivel casters. I was wondering:

1) What brand(s) of swivel casters should I look for or is there not a lot of difference?

2) If I can getting 8" casters, should I go with a pneumatic tire or a flat free? What are the pros and cons of each (aside from the obviously of needing air)

make sure install a cleat or some way to attach the furniture to the dolly....nothing worse than pushing the item right off the dolly in to the grass, or in my case dirt/mud

I only have swivels on one end, similarly I have one that has larger wheels in the middle and smaller wheels at the ends, 6 wheels total that is awesome to move stuff, as it can teeter to miss joints or ledges or high spots.

I like pneumatic on yards or weird terrain, the flat free does not seem to roll or maneuver as easy as the air ones.

I was leaning towards pneumatic as well. Sounds like your 6 wheel dolly is like the link I posted. I like that one, but just think I can make it in 15 minutes the size I want for half the price or less (the swivel one is $240 and $40 shipping). I typically put the dollies underneath and then throw ratcheting straps around the dolly and furniture to lock them together so they don't separate during transit.

Do you think a the 6 wheel dolly or 2 4-wheel dollies with all swivel casters would be better since you have some experience with this?

Any brands I should (or should not) get? I will probably just order these off the internet. I do think swivels will be nice, but I don't think I need a brake.

Get RWM 47 series are monsters...I have them on my Tablesaw, welding table and dollies I welded up to hold and move my pontoon and ski boats. ER Wagner are good too. Get solid tires poly material ...on cast iron hub. These all have grease fittings too...and should last forever. I use 5" for shop equipment and 6" for the boats as the larger the diameter...the easier to roll. Don't get inflatable...as they always lose pressure and are a hassle.

On concrete/wood, poly casters are great. Being that you are going to use this on grass, I would definitely use pneumatic tires. The larger the better for ease of moving, but you want to keep the CoG of the item low...
