I'm curious where's a good place to wheel casters?
Want to get a 5x2 caster set, 2 swivels & 2 locking swivels. Going to build a new mobile welding table.
Thank you.

What is your budget?

Aye! This is the most important specification. There's two orders of magnitude between the cheapest 5" caster brand and the most expensive 5" caster brand I can think of.

Craigslist!

There are all kinds of independent guys and small shops that will pull casters off of equipment to install them on something that already has casters. Or junk collectors who pick them up at auction then sell for a small profit.

In recent memory from two different guys I have got...

1 set of 4 - 4" Rubber on Cast ball bearing swivel/lock casters
1 set of 4 - 6" Rubber on Cast ball bearing swivel/lock casters
1 set of 4 - 4" Poly on Cast ball bearing swivel/lock w/swivel lock casters

All said and done $80 total. You can never have to many casters!

I second H F if you have one close.
It is one of the things they do well.

Sure, they are made in China.
But they are not very complex and are good quality.

Where in CA are you? If it's SoCal, I have a local place I go to that is very reasonable and have anything you could want.

Some of the better casters at Harbor Freight are not sold on the shelf with casters, but instead come as part of the four wheel moving dollies instead. It's actually often cheaper to buy the dollies, yank the wheels off and have a good set for little investment.

EXACTLY! Buy the small dollies for 8 bucks on sale...
Here are a few of the dollies I have "repurposed" ...

Cut down a full size dollie and bolted it under my tubing bender stand.

The engine for the van is sitting on a full size dollie. The cradle is screwed to it so it won't come apart.

The trans and GV unit are also sitting on one as is my arbor press.
I even used a small dollie under my roll-a-round work stool after the cheap casters blew out.

I had good luck with sescastorco on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/sescasterco/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

I bought 4 of the total lock 4" stemless castors for my 80gal air compressor and they handle the weight with ease. The locks work well as well. For $8/ea, you can't really go wrong. The total was $43 shipped. I couldn't find a total locking caster at Harbor Freight, and the ones I found that had swivel locks had a plastic lever....
