I am currently having a 75,000 B.T.U. Beacon Morris Separated Combustion heater installed and thanks to Garage Journal and all of the fine discussions by some very knowledgeable people I will have a heated garage shortly !!! With that being said I am having a hard time understanding the discussions over B-vent for horizontal termination when it is clear from the manufacturer recommendations and state and local codes that it is clear cat 111 is the only allowed horizontal vent material to be used. It may be expensive but the Heat-Fab EZ vent is easy to use and self explanatory once you have read the instructions like you should.
Thank you for any replies and my apologies if I do not reply promptly back :)

I'm starting to feel like I'm beating a dead horse on this topic, but here is my take again.

B-Vent is a category I vent system. Which means it must be under a negative pressure and carrys flue gases above condensing temperature. To be under a negative pressure it must be installed vertically unless there is a sidewall draft inducer installed.

Some of the manufacturers of garage heaters allow their heaters to be horizontally vented with B-Vent. While it seems wrong, since the B-vent is not under a negative pressure in these applications, it is "properly" installed because the manufacturer has the heaters spec'd as category I when horizontally vented with B-Vent. In most jurisdictions the manufacturers specifications supersedes local code so it should pass inspection when installed as per the manufacturers installation instructions.

Hope that helps.
