My local Cat dealer had a 40% off Cyber Monday sale and I got their 3 piece plier set, 6 piece screwdriver set, 3/8 metric 12 point socket set, 3/8 metric 12 point deep socket set, 3/8 metric 6 point socket set, 1/4 metric 6 point socket set and 1/4 metric 6 point deep socket set, all for $262.16

Was this the Ohio Petterbuilt place that was being posted on a bunch of pages on Facebook? I looked into it, their inventory was pretty limited, and unless you were near by and could pick stuff up, after shipping, prices were basically the same as just getting them from my local dealer.

No. It's not them. It's the area Cat dealer.

Good job on the buy! Our Cat dealer is order only on tools but I still get my angle wrenches and 1/2 flex ratchets through them.

Yeah, I just had to see that promo too. :ROFLMAO:

I ended up ordering the 3/8 metric deep and shallow 6pt impact socket sets. Too good of a price to pass up. If the 1/2 set went higher than 21MM I would have bought them too. Man its been an expensive month. :ROFLMAO:

That's lucky. Granted I didn't check my local dealers page, there isn't even a section for tools on it, so I doubt there was anything. I'd love to get a set of angle wrenches with Cat stampings on them.

One thing I did notice is that the Snap-On "S" on the rivet of the slip joint pliers has been removed.

Yeah. I'm super happy with the purchase. The local Cat dealer was great to work with and had them in two days. I'm still amazed the difference in price compared to the actual Snap-On versions, even without the 40% sale at Cat.

SO dealers have to allow for all of the tools they sell on truck accounts and never see again after collecting between 2 weeks and 2 years of payments. I wouldn't have that job.

You'll need to select your local dealer, etc. It's $95.54 at my local dealer currently.

There is another Cat tools thread with a link to a PDF of their tool catalog- download it and go wild. I didn't need much but bought a few items when I saw that thread. When I went to pick up my tools, the parts guy was pretty clueless about my order when I said it was tools- guess he'd never dealt with some idiot off the street buying a few screwdrivers.

CAT tools

I've noticed discussion, favorable reviews and claims that they are SnapOn made. Looking at Cat's website, selecting tools I see a bunch of special service tools only. Where are you fellow getting wrenches, sockets, etc?

There is also a lot of discussion about what is a good deal, the same as SO, etc.

I was able to order online, pay with a CC as an individual, then got an email when they were in and went and picked them up at the dealer.

I just checked my email--neither Boyd nor Carter CAT (the two dealerships with locations near me--first is an hour, second maybe 25 minutes) had such a sale--but I did get an email from Carter Machinery about a 15% off sale. I got my first ones back in August when they ran a free shipping sale (which is expensive). I got it practically next business day as the UPS hub for my area is on the same road.

The 6V-6192 are considerably nicer than the Icons that copy the Snap-On design. I like the grips better as well.

I need to get the rest of the set--I like that wire cutter and I'm glad the needlenose don't have wire cutters on them.

I'm still blown away at the price difference between Cat and Snap-On sockets. Take the Cat 3/8 six point metric shallow socket set I purchased. With the sale, my price was $31.39 and the Snap-On catalog price for the same set is $268. With me being a hobbyist, I have no access to a Snap-On truck and even if I found one and was allowed onboard to purchase that socket set, it's unlikely I'd be given any discount, so I'd probably end up paying the full retail price of $268.

I was fortunate that my local Cat dealer had the 40% off Cyber Monday sale as it allowed me to fill out my socket collection with high end sockets. I've always wanted Snap-On for no other reason than "just because". I have the financial means to buy them at retail, but their prices are just stupid. The regular Cat prices are what Snap-On should be charging for their tools.

Another ask: If easily avail, any chance you have part# for the 1/4 set? I just looked through the cat catalog and couldn't find them.

The 1/4" metric shallow set is 200-8413 and the deep set is 194-3578.

I was able to find shallow. I think the deep is 194-3578 (able to find via search from shallow description). Thank you again.

The CAT tool prices depend upon where you live. Here in northern VA, the prices are considerably more from the CAT dealers than what I have seen on social media when this craze started popping up on Youtube, Instagram, etc. It seems those in the mid-west or in general, rural areas, get cheaper pricing.

Carter Cat in Virginia has p/n 200-8413, the 1/4" 6pt. metric shallow socket set (4-15mm) for $82.98
Ohio Cat in Ohio has the same set for $66.38
Looks like each dealer sets their own pricing. I know Ohio Cat ships, but no idea on their shipping costs.

The closest Snap-On set is only from 5-15mm and adding in the 4mm, that is included in the Cat set, is $273.40
