Hey guys. I've been looking on here for a couple years. Forgot my username email blah blah blah. Anyways. I bought my first house about a year and a half ago. First thing was to revamp the detached garage. 24x28. 2 7x9 doors. Turned into a 16x8 door. Down to the studs new osb drywall ran natural gas heat new electric and cable and in the process of getting water out here. I have it about 98% complete. Just tinkering with some storage issues as I go along. So my question is how do you guys store your caulk tubes? I've got probably a dozen I'm sick of throwing in the cabinet with the spray paint. They're always falling out. Any ideas? Thanks in advance and sorry for the multiple topic thread and long post. And yes I did try the search function and Google.

Thanks. Idk if that will work with my set up. I don't think I have enough posts to post pics yet. Or tapatalk won't let me. But I did upload some on my profile. I was thinking of making some drawers under my bench. But it would take away from some of my storage. (Shop vac, battery charger, small compressor, buckets, etc)

I've found that caulk doesn't keep much over a year, even when stored properly in a sealed container.

I try to buy caulk only as I need it, and keep the varieties to a minimum so I'm likely to use it all before it hardens. You can get painter's caulk for trim, for instance, but paintable silicon can be used for trim, bathrooms, and exterior windows and doors.

Caulking does have an expiration date on it so pay attention when your buying it. I found this out when my wife stocked up on a store close out, most of it wasn't any good when I went to use it. It had already expired before she bought it.

Here in the Fort Worth area I am lucky if caulk lasts six months on the shelf. I have bought caulk at Home Depot that had already set up, you would think they would have enough turnover to keep their stock fresh. It may be cool enough in Morris to extend the life of your caulk; the last time I was in Morris it was twelve degrees F and snowing sideways.
